Team Liquid Removes Stewie2K, FalleN and Grim From Its Starting Lineup
Liquid drops the bomb!
Team Liquid has finally announced the expected departure of a few CS:GO players. Though not a lot of details were revealed, Steve "jokasteve" Perino - Counter-Strike General Manager of Team Liquid, announced that Jake "Stewie2K" Yip, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, and Michael "Grim" Wince would no longer be part of the team's starting lineup.
For quite some time the trio had been speaking about their eventual departure from the North American organization and the announcement has finally been made. They will not be a part of Liquid's 2022 CS:GO roster which currently has only one confirmed player, Keith "NAF" Markovic, who has extended his contract with Liquid till the end of 2024.
Team Liquid announces changes to its CS:GO roster for the 2022 competitive season
Liquid has not bid farewell to any of its CS:GO players yet, as they still remain under contract with them. The organization's Counter-Strike general manager while announcing that Stewie2K, FalleN, and Grim will be not be a part of Liquid's starting lineup in 2022, further stated that more information about the team's future will be provided in the coming weeks.
This means Team Liquid is closing in on all its deals as they still need to announce four players to complete the team. For now, NAF is the only player that has been secured by Liquid.
The organization seem to be ironing out some details with Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, because he was not part of the players who would be sitting out but he was not confirmed to be a part of the active roster either.
The 24-year-old rifler is the oldest player on the current Liquid roster, having joined the team in March 2015 and still continues to play under their banner even after more than six years. Additionally, he was expected to be one of the first players to be signed by Liquid when discussions about the 2022 reshuffle began, which is why it was even more of a surprise when the organization picked NAF first.
Other players that have been reportedly linked with a move to Liquid are as follows,
Nick "nitr0" Cannella, who is expected to return back to CS:GO coming over from Valorant, where he played out a mediocre run with 100 Thieves.
Richard "shox" Papillon, the experienced French veteran who gets fired up in clutch situations. With Vitailty undergoing changes, Liquid has been in talks with him for their 2022 campaign.
Josh "oSee" Ohm, the dedicated AWPer who is currently competing with Extra Salt might soon be taking those crisp scoped shots for Liquid.
As for the players that are on their way out of the team,
Stewie2K is being linked with a move to Evil Geniuses where he might get a chance to compete alongside his Cloud9 partner Timothy "autimatic" Ta.
FalleN seems to be on his way back to Brazil to prepare the Brazilian 'last dance' team, a project for which the local support was surprisingly missing.
The complete Team Liquid lineup for the next competitive season will be revealed in few weeks time. Hopefully, there will be no more curveballs!
