The much-anticipated knockout stage of League of Legends Worlds 2022 is all set to kick off on 20th October.

The League of Legends Worlds 2022 group stage is over and the knockout stage is all set to kick off today on 20th October. This stage of the tournament marks the beginning of the crucial best-of-five (BO5) series where teams will be put to test and their understanding of the meta and mental fortitude will be tested. In just a matter of two weeks, fans will witness the crowning of the new World Champion at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. However, the quarterfinals are set to continue at the Hulu Theatre premises in Madison Square Garden in New York City.

After the conclusion of the group stage on 16th October, a total of eight teams remain, with ​​League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) and League of Legends Pro League (LPL) absolutely dominating the charts. Notably, Rogue is the only remaining Western team remaining at Worlds 2022.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Worlds 2022 knockout stage. The quarterfinal bracket starts on 20th October, followed by the semis on 29th and 30th November, and the grand finals on 5th November.

Twelve teams directly qualified for the main event of Worlds 2022 by performing incredibly well in their respective summer splits. Four more teams joined them by making it out of the play-in and were seeded into the four groups. The top two teams from each group have now advanced to the knockout stage of the competition.

Format

  • It is a single elimination bracket drawn randomly

  • The first-place teams face second-place teams

  • No two teams from the same group can be placed in the same half of the bracket

  • All matches are best-of-five (BO5)


Worlds 2022 Knockout Stage: Schedule

This year was one of the best quarterfinal draws we’ve seen in League of Legends esports since teams from the same region were not matched up against each other early on in the bracket apart from the GEN.G vs DK match. Every single quarterfinal matchup is worth watching given the history that these teams share and feature so many historical storylines. One such story is the iconic rivalry between RNG and T1 and fans will be treated to this BO5 very soon.
