League of Legends bug enthusiast and YouTube Vandiril has spotted yet another bug at Worlds 2022.
After the Orianna ultimate bug, Vandiril found a bug surrounding Gnar’s Boomerang Throw.

Players and fans of League of Legends have always joked about the bugs in the game and its client but spotting them in an international tournament featuring the best teams from around the world is worrisome. On 10th October, bug-spotter and YouTuber Vandiril brought to the attention of the community an Orianna bug during the Rogue vs GAM Esports match. Following this, Riot Games disabled Orianna from Worlds 2022 until further notice. Jokingly, fans have been asking Vandiril to spot a Yuumi bug to get the cat banned from Worlds 2022. Instead, Vandiril has spotted a bug with Gnar, which has reportedly been in the game for ages now.

The Gnar bug spotted by Vandiril happened in a match between Top Esports (TES) and DRX at Worlds 2022 Group Stage. This bug involves mini Gnar using his Q: Boomerang Throw.

Notably, this year Riot Games has had to disable several features in the game (like the Hexflash) after bugs were discovered.

Gnar bug at Worlds 2022 explained

Gnar’s Q: Boomerang Throw allows mini Gnar to throw out his boomerang that damages and slows enemies before returning to him. If he catches the boomerang its cooldown is reduced. However, the Gnar bug causes the boomerang to travel in a different direction instead of returning toward him.

In the TES vs DRX game, DRX’s top-laner Hwang "Kingen" Seong-hoon uses his Gnar Q and the Gnar boomerang bug redirects it to a different place and hits Jax. Eventually, DRX was able to secure first blood and pick up a good advantage. Vandiril claimed that this bug was previously spotted in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) in April 2021 in a game between G2 Esports and MAD Lions. Notably, a player had reported the bug to Riot Games but it was never addressed by the developers.

SK Gaming’s top-laner Janik "JNX" Bartels replied to Vandiril on Twitter. He said, “This bug happens so much in competitive it’s just not shown on camera. I had it atleast happen 5 times to me in my career.

Some of the League of Legends players who have actively played Gnar have stated that the bug has been prevalent since his actual release in 2014.

The bug seems to have a greater impact on the outcome of the games and could potentially mess with the competitive integrity of Worlds 2022. Riot Games has yet to acknowledge this bug surrounding Gnar as pointed out by Vandiril.

Worlds 2022 will go on a break and will resume action on 13th October for the second round-robin. Stay updated with the tournament by heading on to Worlds 2022 Group Stage: Teams, Groups, Schedule & More.
