Riot Games has disabled Orianna from the Worlds 2022 champions pool until further notice .
A bug surrounding her ultimate animation was spotted by bug finder Vandiril in the Rogue vs GAM Esports game on Day 3 of Groups at Worlds 2022.

Orianna is a mechanically challenging champion who brings in a ton of utility and can help the team win team fights easily. Orianna always creeps back into the mid-lane during tournaments like Worlds, regardless of the meta. However, Riot Games announced that Orianna will no longer be allowed to be played at Worlds 2022 on 10th October. League of Legends Esports division made this call since it discovered a bug recently.

Notably, hours earlier today YouTuber and bug-finder Vandiril took to Twitter to talk about an Orianna bug. This year Riot Games has had to disable several features in the game (like the Hexflash) after bugs were discovered.

Orianna won’t be available for play at Worlds 2022

Riot Games wrote on Twitter, “Due to a recently discovered bug, Orianna will be disabled for Worlds 2022 until further notice.” This Orianna bug was spotted during Day 3 of Worlds 2022 Groups when League of Legends European Championship (LEC) team Rogue took on Vietnam’s GAM Esports on 9th October.

Rogue’s mid-laner Emil “Larssen” Larsson moved the Orianna ball onto his top-laner Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu who was on the front lines of the fight. Noticing a good window to stun them, Larssen used Orianna’s ultimate Command: Shockwave while the ball was on Odoamne. However, the ultimate’s animation made it seem like the ultimate went off on Larssen.

Explaining this further, Vandiril said on Twitter, “In RGE vs GAM game there was an Orianna ult bug. Her Ult appears to be on top of her, but she actually hits Viktor, that is away from her. I wonder if it qualified for chronobreak (it should, unless worlds buglist [that teams get] specifically says otherwise).

Vandiril discovered this bug as early as 3rd October claiming that it is prevalent on the Worlds 2022 patch, which is LoL Patch 12.18. He also confirmed that it is not a visual or spectator bug but one that could potentially change the outcome of the game and affect the competitive integrity of the esport.

At the time Vandiril tweeted about the Orianna bug in Rogue vs GAM Esports game, he pondered whether this was mentioned in the bug list that Riot sends to teams. If it is a bug that was already notified in the “known bug, not eligible for chronobreak” section, teams cannot seek remakes.

However, with Riot Games disabling the champion at Worlds 2022 until further notice, it is evident that it had not encountered it earlier. It is also unclear whether Rogue and GAM Esports have to replay the match.

Notably, Orianna will be the second champion to be disabled for the tournament as she joins the newly designed Udyr. Day 4 of Worlds 2022 will continue on 10th October. Stay updated with the tournament by heading on to Worlds 2022 Group Stage: Teams, Groups, Schedule & More.
