Riot Games announced the artist lineup for the Worlds 2023 opening ceremony on 3rd November. The opening ceremony for Worlds 2023 will set the tone for the final showdown between the two best League of Legends teams in the world and will feature a star-studded line-up of international artists who have contributed to the League of Legends universe this year.
Worlds 2023 Opening Ceremony, presented by Mastercard, is scheduled to take place on 19th November ahead of the grand finale at 9:00 am CET (17:00 KST) at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, South Korea.
In its official blog post, Riot Games and League of Legends Esports (LoLEsports) wrote, "The Opening Ceremony will kick off the biggest esports event of the year and the grand finale of the League of Legends World Championship. Riot and LoL Esports will be assembling an impressive array of musical artists and exceptional performances to bring the modern myth of the League of Legends player to life."
NewJeans to Perform GODS at Worlds 2023 Opening Ceremony
Riot Games confirmed that the rising K-pop sensation, NewJeans, will perform the Worlds 2023 anthem, “GODS.” It noted that the performance of GODS will debut an original NewJeans choreography designed specifically for the song and the Worlds Final stage at the Gocheok Sky Dome.
Riot Games added, "Elements of the music video will be brought to life onstage during the performance, alongside an exciting arrow of practical and technical effects."
HEARTSTEEL Will Perform PARANOIA on the Stage
Apart from the Worlds anthem performance, Riot Games confirmed that its newest virtual boyband Heartsteel will also perform its debut single on the stage.
Riot Games said Baekhyun of EXO, Cal Scruby, Tobi Lou, and ØZI, the artists making up Riot's newest virtual collective, shall take to the stage to perform PARANOIA.
It added, "HEARTSTEEL’s debut will be an action-packed, high octane performance that blends reality and League of Legends fantasy. The artists will be performing live onstage alongside their Champion counterparts in a seamless blend of performance and technology."
As a result, fans can expect to see a performance similar to that of KDA during the Worlds 2018 opening ceremony.
Currently, the quarterfinals of Worlds 2023 is taking place with three Chinese teams already securing their slots in the semis. On 5th November, T1 will take on LNG in the last quarterfinal.
