This tradition continues till date and Riot Games just gave a sneak peek of the Worlds 2023 anthem.

On 26th September, Riot Games' esports wing for League of Legends — LoL Esports — revealed on Twitter the details about the Worlds 2023 anthem and its performers.

It said, "Introducing your #Worlds2023 Anthem: "GODS" ft. @NewJeans_ADOR," and gave a 14-second teaser of the song.

Notably, Riot Games partners with artists local to the country or place where the tournament is held and this year too, it has upheld this tradition. The artist for this year’s Worlds anthem is Korean-Pop (K-Pop) group called NewJeans and and the Worlds 2023 anthem is titled “Gods.”

The announcement has been received very well by the community, given that there is a decent crossover between the League of Legends and K-Pop fandoms.

With this announcement, Worlds 2023 hype has gotten suddenly very real!


Worlds 2023 Anthem Gods Is About Deft

According to a press release, the Worlds 2023 anthem's music video will be centered around the story of Korean pro player and Worlds 2022 champion Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu.

The release reportedly said, "The 2023 Worlds music video will follow the story of Korean pro player Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu from his discovery of League in high school to his unbelievable run at Worlds This is not just the personal story of Deft and his unbreakable spirit, but the story of a team that overcame all odds to become World Champions."

DRX is Worlds 2022 champion as it took down storied organization T1 in an iconic BO5 series.

Talking about the collaboration, NewJeans reportedly said, “It was a new experience for all of us. It was fun to try a new genre and sound. Through this collaboration, we are happy to present a song that incorporates both NewJeans’ and League of Legends’ unique colors."

Notably, the song is written by Riot Games principal composer Sebastien Najand and Alex Seaver of Mako.


When Will Worlds 2023 Anthem Gods Release?

According to the announcement made by Riot Games, Worlds 2023 anthem GODS will be released by Riot Games on 4th October at 12am CT or 2 PM KST. If you are based in Europe, you will be able to watch the video release at 7 AM CEST.


With this new collaboration with NewJeans, Riot Games has expanded its collaboration with different global artists. In the past, it has worked with the following artists for the Worlds anthems:

Themed 'THE GRIND. THE GLORY,' Worlds 2023 is all set to kick off on 10th October (Tuesday) and will conclude with the grand finals on 19th November (Sunday).
