There are various reasons why teams have been excluded from BGIS 2023, and as stated in Krafton's rules teams must follow the eligibility requirements to play in the tournament.

The Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 In-Game qualifiers have now concluded. Krafton not only invites recognised teams to participate in official events, but also allows unknown and underdog teams to qualify for official events through in-game qualifiers. Thousands of teams competed in the open qualifiers, but only 2048 will advance to Round 1 of the BGIS 2023 main event. The results of the In Game Qualifiers are in, and both qualified and disqualified teams have begun to receive qualifying emails from Krafton. Teams must check their registered email ID's inboxes or spam folders.

Reasons why teams have been disqualified from BGIS 2023

Every year, thousands of teams and players register to compete in the In game qualifiers, but only a small number of them receive the chance to show off their skills. The recently revealed results of the BGIS 2023 In game qualifiers have come under scrutiny, as many teams with above-average scores were unable to qualify for the event, while some teams with below-average performance did qualify.

There are various reasons why teams have been excluded from BGIS 2023, and as stated in Krafton's rules, the following are the eligibility requirements to play in the tournament:

Players Age: If a player is below the age of 16 he or she will not be able to participate in the event. If a player is 16 years of age or older but under the age of 18 as of the Registration end date, he or she may compete in the Tournament.

Ranking Requirement: All players on a Team’s roster must have an account level higher than 25 and tier above Platinum V, at the time of the registration’s end for the official competition.

National Requirement: Players must be Indian Nationals to participate in the Tournament. To be certified as an Indian National by Tournament Officials, a player must prove lawful nationality with a valid identification document (e.g. Student ID Card, Passport, Aadhar Card, Driving License, etc.) issued by an Indian governmental authority.

Single Team Exclusivity: A team member is only allowed to compete for the one Team that they have registered with. A team member may only have registered with one team. A team member will not be allowed to compete for more than one team simultaneously and therefore cannot be listed on the roster of more than one Team.

Player Name: A player’s gamer tag or in-game nickname “Gamer Tag” must consist of the player’s Team Name and the player name in the format of “TeamNamePlayerName”. A Gamer Tag may not include any word or phrase in any language that is considered offensive, toxic or hurtful at the sole discretion of the tournament operator or Krafton.

Team Names and Logos: The team’s name selected at the time of registration should not be changed at any time during the tournament without the prior written approval of the tournament officials. All team names must be different and unique. The team’s name nor its logo may include any word or phrase in any language that is considered offensive, toxic or hurtful at the sole discretion of the tournament operator or Krafton.

In-Game Apparel: After a player leaves the in-game lobby, his or her avatar must remain fully clothed in the game for the remainder of the match. Clothing exchanges for cosmetic purposes or comic effect are not permitted inside the game.

Cheating: Any modification in the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) game client by any player, team or other team member is prohibited. The use of any kind of cheating hardware, device or cheat program, or any similar cheating method such as signaling devices, and hand signals, etc., shall be deemed cheating. Intentionally playing with another player in a public match for two or more matches within 72 hours while having knowledge of the other player using a cheating device or cheat program, or any similar cheating method is prohibited as well.

There are several other criterias and rules mentioned by Krafton which can be read here. If any of the teams fail to meet the above-mentioned qualifying criteria, they may be disqualified from the event. There are many teams that have scored above-average points but were unable to qualify because they did not meet some or all of the criteria listed above.
