Loco announced that it saw 100 Million viewers during the recently concluded BGMS 2022 tournament and set a new record in Indian esports history.

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is hands down one of the most popular mobile games in the country with a user base that spans millions. Slated as one of the biggest Indian esports tournaments of the year, the BGMI Master Series (BGMS) 2022 was televised on Star Sports 2 and also on Loco. India’s leading live game streaming platform, Loco, enabled the digital distribution of this tournament and witnessed a record viewership of 100 Million, reflecting the unprecedented response from the fans.

The month-long event was held in New Delhi, India, and had an overall prize pool of INR 1.5 Crores. After an eventful run, the BGMS 2022 concluded on 17th July, with Global Esports taking home the lion’s share of the prize pool – INR 25 Lakhs – and lifting the coveted trophy.

Throughout the entire month during the BGMS 2022, Loco provided an unmatched digital experience to its users. Commenting on the phenomenal response and support that Loco received during BGMS 2022, Loco Founders Anirudh Pandita and Ashwin Suresh said, “Esports is now the second biggest sport in the country and we saw incredible interest levels from across the length and breadth of the country. This tournament is one of the most prestigious on the esports calendar and the participating teams put up a memorable display. Loco provided an unmatched digital experience for users by providing interactive tools and memorable watch parties, which set new standards for how sports content can be experienced.

The founders also shared that they have an exciting roadmap of new interactive features and blockbuster esports content for Loco that will continue to raise the bar of esports entertainment.

According to a release, Loco has grown rapidly over the last year with daily active viewers scaling by 15x, monthly active viewers scaling by 8x, monthly active streamers scaling by 5x, and live watch hours scaling by 90x since January 2021.

Notably, BGMS 2022 reportedly broke the viewership record on Television by garnering 12.3 Million views in the first eight days (24th June to 1st July) of the tournament. Now with Loco also making a new record with a whopping 100 Million viewers, it is evident that the Indian audience is interested and invested in esports.
