The Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Esports scene has seen a surge in tournaments with multiple online tournaments being organized alongside back to back LAN events. Krafton managed to successfully organize three BGMI LAN events - Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS), India - Korea Invitational, and Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) in 2023. The 2024 season is expected to start on a grand note as well with yet another event.
Krafton reveals teaser for upcoming BGMI tournament
On 29th February, a teaser posted by Krafton on its Instagram handle showed several moments from LAN events organized in the 2023 BGMI season. With the rumors of Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2024 doing rounds, it can be expected that the tournament teased in the video is the BGIS 2024 event which will start soon.
Recently, Zishan “Mazy” Alam, an official caster of BGMI events organized by Krafton, in a live stream, revealed that the BGIS 2024 event is just around the corner. He also said that there are significant changes which can be expected to take place before the start of BGIS 2024.
The first change will be the new points system that allocates points to the teams on the basis of the Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile Esports points system. The team securing the chicken dinner will now receive 10 points instead of 15 and the amount of points will keep decreasing for lower placed teams. Almost every tournament organizer in the 2024 BGMI season so far has used the new points system which is also an indication of the changes expected in the times to come.
Another change, which is expected, is the zone meta based on the global scene where the sizes of the zone, time and more will be changed. The third change is the introduction of a new Transfer Window, which can be used by teams to exchange or trade players to other teams.
Several seasoned squads like Entity Gaming, iQOO Soul and Orangutan have shown consistent performances in the 2024 BGMI season so far. Entity Gaming has already won two events, one of them being the ESL BGMI Snapdragon Pro Series LAN Finals.
