Highlights
BGIS 2024 is likely to start in the third or fourth week of March 2024.
The event is expected to use the 10 point system, global zone meta and will also introduce a player transfer window.

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is at an all time high with multiple online tournaments being organized along with back to back LAN events. The unban of BGMI in May 2023 has vastly helped the Indian esports scene grow at a significant rate. Krafton managed to successfully organize three BGMI LAN events, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGIS), India - Korea Invitational and Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) in 2023 and the 2024 season is expected to start on a high as well with yet another event.

Zishan “Mazy” Alam, the official BGMI caster for Krafton organized events, in a recent live stream revealed that BGIS 2024 will soon be announced.

Mazy reveals details about BGIS 2024

While talking about BGIS 2024, in a recent live stream, Mazy said that there are significant changes which can be expected to take place. The first one being the points system which will be based on the global esports scene meta. Teams will now be awarded only 10 position points for securing a chicken dinner unlike in previous events where it was 15. This is a significant change for the teams who have modeled their play style on a position based gameplay.

The second change which can be expected is the zone meta which is again based on the global scene where the sizes of the zone, time and more will be changed.

The third aspect is not a change but an introduction of a new Transfer Window, which can be used by teams to exchange or trade players to other teams.

He also said that we can expect at least the top 24 teams from the Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2023 event to be invited in the BGIS 2024 The Grind event. The Grind is the qualifying event for the BGIS tournaments. In 2023 the slots for the number of teams participating in The Grind event were increased from 128 to 256 teams as the competition among the Tier 1 teams and the upcoming teams had significantly increased.

One of the interesting introductions that the BGIS 2024 event will have is the player transfer window. In 2023, a number of organizations had alleged player poaching in mid tournaments or just after marque events' conclusion. The player transfer window will ensure a smooth transition of players between organizations and will solve the poaching issue to an extent.
