Krafton who had earlier teased an upcoming Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) esports tournament, has finally come forward to announce the Battleground Mobile India Series 2021 featuring a massive INR 1 Crore ($134,215 USD) prize pool. The open tournament which is a combination of both a grassroots level event and a podium for well-established teams is all set to take place from 2nd August to 10th October, with registrations scheduled to begin from 19th July onwards. Krafton has released a lot of other information related to the tournament like tournament format, prize pool distribution, and the overall programme of the event.

The first ever competitive BGMI tournament has finally been announced by Krafton, following a teaser which had been released on 7th July. Earlier, the developers had stated, "It’s time to make history. ⏱ Squad up for the biggest battle you’ve all been waiting for. 💪 Stay tuned for more. 😎"

Well, now they have come forward with an INR 1 Crore tournament and here are all the details related to the upcoming event.

BGMI Series 2021: Tournament Format And Schedule

The entire tournament is set to take place from 2nd August to 10th October. During this period, five different stages of the tournament will be played out, which will double up as qualifiers.

Here is the complete tournament roadmap which includes information about each stage and their schedule,

  • In-Game Qualifiers (2nd to 8th August)

    This will be the first stage of the tournament which will witness all the registered teams playing ranked matches in-game along with their teammates.

    The teams would be required to play a total of 15 matches with their registered teammates, however, only the first 10 will be considered for evaluation and scored accordingly.

    In case of a tie, certain parameters such as finishes, survival time, accuracy, and more will be considered for a team's placement. In total, the top 1024 BGMI teams will qualify for the next round.

    Registered squads can start playing 15 games from 2nd August, 00: 00 :01 hours, and have to complete all their games before 23:59:59 8th August.

  • Online Qualifiers (17th August to 12th September)

    The 1024 BGMI teams that qualified will then compete in the online qualifiers which will almost go on for a whole month. From here, only 64 teams will further qualify on to the next round.

  • Quarter Finals (16th to 26th September)

    The 64 teams will fight hard in this round as things start to get serious, only 24 teams will move ahead in the tournament.

  • Semi-Finals (30th September to 3rd October)

    With the most competitive teams remaining in the tournament, from here on out, only the final 16 teams will qualify ahead on to the Grand Finals.

  • Grand Finals (7th to 10th October)

    The final 16 teams will fight it out in the final four days of the event to crown the first Battlegrounds Mobile India champion of the country.

The INR 1 Crore ($134,215 USD) prize pool will only be divided between the top 16 BGMI teams that manage to reach the Grand Finals. Apart from positional cash prize, there are also some individual prizes to be won by the players.
