The first official BGMI LAN tournament concludes.
The four day BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) LAN tournament organized by Krafton and NODWIN Gaming, BGMI Showdown 2022 (BMSD) has concluded with 7Sea Esports being crowned as the champion following its impressive performance in the grand finals.
After a glum start to the tournament, 7Sea somehow managed to qualify through the group stage by placing 13th out of the top 16 teams, having accumulated a total of 90 points.
However, 7Sea completely turned things around on the fourth and final day of the tournament, winning two matches and placing second in one match to earn 92 points across the six maps including 51 placement points and 41 finish points.
7Sea Esports is crowned as the champion of BGMI Showdown 2022
The first official BGMI tournament followed a rather tight schedule taking place across four days only (21st to 24th July), the first three consisting of the group stage followed by a single day grand finals.
Clearly the teams were not prepared to tackle this format properly, fighting hard through the first three days to qualify for the grand finals which only lasted for a day and comprised of just six matches.
This means that the teams had to go all out and momentum played a crucial role when it came to winning. Fortunately, 7Sea Esports struck gold by securing a WWCD (Winner Winner Chicken Dinner) in the second game on Erangel.
7Sea crashed out in the very next game but kept hustling to score 61 points in the final three matches. The last map witnessed the most dominant performance by the team during the grand finals.
Harsh "SPRAYGOD" Malik contributed heavily to 7Sea's triumph at the BMSD 2022 with a total of 15 frags to his name, which is roughly about 36.6% of all the finishes taken by the team. This resulted in him being named as the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the tournament with a 3.19 overall rating.
7Sea Esports did not play it completely safe in order to secure victory, in fact it was the most aggressive team during the grand finals with the most number of finishes (41) among all the 16 teams competing.
This is a huge moment for the team, lifting its first trophy of the 2022 competitive season which has been far from great for the Indian esports organization up until this point.
