Hwei is League of Legends' newest entrant who stepped foot onto Summoner's Rift. Riot Games unveiled Hwei and stated that he is a high skill ceiling champion. As a result, apart from the usual ability rundown, the developers also released a cheat sheet for Hwei's kit due to how overwhelming and complex his abilities are.
Now, after a few months of the champions release, Hwei players were surprised when they opened the League of Legends client. They were greeted by a notice that mentioned that he's been disabled.
Here's all we know about why Hwei is disabled in League of Legends.
Hwei Disabled in League of Legends
Hwei is one of the most complex champions in the game currently. Myles “Riot Emizery” Salholm, lead designer on Hwei, said, "For those of you looking for a high skill ceiling champion, boy do we have a treat for you. I wanted to share some thoughts on Hwei’s abilities, some insights into how we designed them, and when to think about using them in game."
In essence, Hwei's base kit is the same: A passive spell and four other abilities. However, his kit explores three different "subjects" of art. This gives him three different stances and has a total of nine abilities, apart from the ultimate spell.
It has now become evident that the champion is not just difficult to play and master but also to balance by the developers. Currently, there is no proper information on why Riot Games disabled Hwei, the visionary. However, players noted that some of his interactions resulted in game crashes, thus prompting the publisher to step in.
According to the Riot Games developers, Hwei is disabled due to "in-game issues," and it is "currently working on resolution." Players think it has to do with Hwei's abilities going the opposite side when he gets airborne.
One Redditor reasoned, "From my observations, might have to do with skillshots aiming in the completely wrong direction when CC'd." Agreeing with this, another user commented, "I'm so happy they are fixing this, I experienced this while i was crushing an asol, every time he put his E on me every single skillshot would go flying in wild directions."
At the time of writing this article, it is still unclear as to when Riot Games will re-enable Hwei. If the problem is minor, they should be able to do it within a few days. However, if it is a bigger issue at play, the developers might take time to make the champion playable once again.
