Riot Games to Donate All Proceeds From Star Guardian Taliyah to Social Impact Fund

League of Legends players are excited and are eagerly waiting for the release of the new Star Guardian skins on 14th July. As we now know, the Star Guardian event will be a two-phase event with skins getting released in both LoL Patch 12.13 and LoL Patch 12.14. The community was ecstatic when it learned that there would be a Star Guardian Taliyah skin, which is likely to be released in the second phase of the event in LoL Patch 12.14. In addition to this, League of Legends developer and publisher Riot Games revealed that it would be donating 100% of the proceeds made from the sales of Star Guardian Taliyah to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.

Riot Games wrote, “One stone at a time? One helping hand at a time. Surfing into the fray, Star Guardian Taliyah has arrived and is ready to assist! From July 28 to August 29, Riot Games will donate 100% of proceeds from Taliyah’s #StarGuardian skin to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.”

All we know about Riot Games Social Impact Fund

The Riot Games Social Impact Fund is an independent entity separate from Riot Games the developer and publisher. It was created in early 2019 to act as a unique philanthropic venture fund that would allow Riot to make direct investments into a variety of global organizations aimed at solving some of the world’s most pressing issues.

The company has stated that all the proceeds raised from the sales of Star Guardian Taliyah between 28th July and 29th August will be donated to the Social Impact Fund, giving the players a month’s time to contribute to a cause.

Notably, this is not the first charity skin that Riot Games has released in League of Legends. In the past, the company raised funds through other skins like Elderwood Ornn, Dawnbringer Karma, and Darkstar Cho’Gath. Over the last few years, players have donated over $15 Million USD to more than 25 different causes around the globe.

The 2019 charity skin – Dawnbringer Karma – raised $6 Million USD and between 10th December 2020 and 11th January 2021, Riot managed to raise $7 Million USD through the Elderwood Ornn skin.

Star Guardian Taliyah: Anticipated release date, patch, and more details

The Star Guardian Taliyah skin will be released in League of Legends patch 12.14 and the patch is scheduled to go live on the servers on 27th July. According to Riot’s announcement, since the fundraiser begins on 28th July, the skin will likely be released a day after in LoL Patch 12.14. It is also speculated that the Star Guardian Taliyah skin in League of Legends will be an Epic skin and will cost 1350 RP.
