LoL Patch 12.15’s preview was shared by Riot Games.
The company is finally addressing energy-using champions and is buffing them.
The patch will go live on 10th August.

With League of Legends Patch 12.14 released, the company is getting ready to roll out the next patch – LoL Patch 12.15 – and has revealed the list of champions who are getting buffed and nerfed in the upcoming first patch of August. Notably, a total of sixteen champions have made their way onto the list in LoL Patch 12.15, where ten are getting buffed while the other six are getting their powers trimmed in League of Legends. One of the most notable buffs in this patch is the one directed towards the champions who use energy instead of mana. Of the ten champions getting buffed, five are energy–using champions.

Apart from these buffs and nerfs, Riot Games also has a couple of system and item adjustments to balance out the state of the game.

Energy-using champions get buffed in LoL Patch 12.15

The highlight of this upcoming LoL Patch 12.15 is the changes directed toward energy-using champions. Lead designer on game balance Matt “Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison wrote on Twitter, “Energy Champions receiving adjustments are Zed, Lee Sin, Akali, Kennen, Shen. These are mainly champions whose energy costs haven't kept up with the game post durability; We like where Kennen's energy costs are, so we're buffing something else instead.

From the tweet, it is evident that Riot Games is addressing the energy costs for casting abilities and how the costs have not been in tandem with the post durability changes. As a result, energy-driven champions including Zed, Lee Sin, Akali, Shen, and Kennen are getting buffed and players could see the energy costs of their abilities going down.

The other champions getting buffed in LoL Patch 12.15 are as follows:

  • Lillia (jungle)

  • Singed

  • Rammus

  • Leona

  • Thresh

Of these five, Lillia and Rammus are predominantly played in the jungle. Singed is usually spotted in the top lane, however, players took him to the mid-lane a few patches ago and Singed mid had good stats. The two other champions that are in line for buffs are Leona and Thresh, two engage support champions.

LoL Patch 12.15: Nerfs

The champions who are getting nerfed in the upcoming patch are as follows:

  • Master Yi

  • Qiyana

  • Sivir

  • Gwen

  • Taliyah

  • Kalista

Master Yi is a jungler who gets picked a lot in the lower tier ranks but after his Q rework, his win rates in the higher tier ranks have also gone up. In Diamond 2+ ranks, Master Yi jungle is ranked S+ with a 52.60% win rate, according to U.GG. Champions like Sivir, Gwen, Taliyah, and Kalista, to an extent, are staple picks in pro play and Riot Games is looking to nerf them before the big Worlds patch.

Meanwhile, according to the preview shared by Phroxzon, Mercurial Scimitar and Silvermere Dawn items are getting buffed while the first strike rune and Divine Sunderer are getting nerfed.

According to the official patch schedule, LoL Patch 12.15 will go live on 10th August. Notably, this patch will also bring forth the new Monster Tamer skinline in League of Legends.
