League of Legends fans have still not completely processed the overwhelming number of Star Guardian skins that Riot Games introduced in the last patch and now the company is already gearing up to release a new skinline called Monster Tamers. At the start of Season 11 of League of Legends in 2021, Riot Games stated that it was exploring the concept of Monster Tamers but the thematic was not chosen by the community as a whole. Instead, the global community voted for a theme called Crime City Nightmare. However, that was 2021, and looks like Riot Games is doubling down on the Monster Tamers idea and is rolling out skins for the same.
What is the Monster Tamers theme?
In the Season 11 livestream, Riot Games said Monster Tamers is a world where champions harness powerful creatures from across Runeterra to challenge each other in high-stakes matches. It also showed concept arts of Monster Tamer Janna and Monster Tamer Ezreal, but surprisingly these bottom lane champions were not given a new makeover by the company.
Which champions are featured in the Monster Tamers skinline?
Riot Games posted a preview of the upcoming Monster Tamers skinline and the following are the champions who are a part of this:
Veigar
Lulu
Kog’Maw
From the looks of the three skins, it seems like the skinline is evidently inspired by the hit anime Pokémon. Riot Games wrote, “Monster Tamers have been spotted adventuring onto the PBE.”
The first champion in the teaser is the evil yordle Veigar who has been given a skull mask to go with his dark purple-colored outfit. The skull animation is also featured on his other abilities and this skin gives off total sinister vibes. It looks like the skin draws inspiration from Duskull, the ghost-type Pokémon, who literally looks like a skull.
Meanwhile, Monster Tamer Kog’Maw sounds and looks very chirpy. The skin embodies the shades of yellow, gold, and purple and Kog’Maw uses a lightning bolt to zap his enemies with his abilities in the skin. The recall animation of Monster Tamer Kog’Maw features three cute, smaller versions of himself. Kog’Maw’s skin could be an ode to the favorite Pikachu from the anime.
The third champion featured in the skinline is Lulu who also dons a yellow outfit. Monster Tamer Lulu also features electric symbols on her clothes. However, since we suspect Kog’Maw to be inspired by Pikachu, Lulu might be a trainer or the gym leader of Summoner’s Rift. Simply put, Lulu and her Pix look extremely adorable in the new Monster Tamers thematic.
With these three skins heading to the Public Beta Environment, players can possibly expect the Monster Tamers to arrive on the Summoner’s Rift with LoL Patch 12.15 which is due to drop on 10th August.
