A.S. Roma's head coach, José Mourinho jokingly called Fortnite a 'nightmare' in a rapid-fire questions segment on Twitter.
He also talked about how footballers stay up playing the battle royale, despite having a game the next day.

The head coach of the Italian football club A.S. Roma, José Mourinho answered questions during a rapid response segment on Twitter. When asked about Fortnite, Mourinho called the battle royale a ‘nightmare’. He chuckled and continued, “Football players stay up all night playing that s***, and the next day they have a game.

Mourinho joined the football club during the summer and when asked about his feelings about A.S. Roma, he said, “History, power, and passion”. While he jokingly dissed Fortnite, the Portuguese manager who has racked up quite a following of 2.4 million people on the social media platform Instagram, called it ‘fun’.

Football and esports connection

Fortnite is quite popular with footballers and it saw Harry Kane, Neymar, and Pele being featured in the game. Football and esports have seen a growing relationship in the past decade with some football associations like FC Schalke 04 in Germany, Paris Saint-Germain in France, and Panathinaikos F.C. in Greece either sponsor or have complete ownership in esports teams. Just a few days ago, North American esports organization, Evil Geniuses announced its partnership with Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C (Wolves). Wolves will work with the esports team for content creation and access to local training facilities in China. The EG x Wolves partnership also includes setting up a training base for the League of Legends World Championship, if the team qualifies.

The FIFAe (esports) World Cup tournament was started in 2004, jointly held by FIFA and its presenting partner EA Sports. Each tournament has players competing in games of the latest incarnation of the FIFA association football video game series.
