Overwatch 2 Season 7 is about to release in a few days and though it might not be anywhere close to the last update which was deemed as the biggest content drop in the title's history, there are still a lot of interesting features and plenty of changes that it has to offer.
The developers have already shared a gist of what the community can expect from Overwatch 2 Season 7: The Rise of Darkness, which includes a themed battle pass, a crossover game mode, a special Halloween event, a new control map, multiple Hero balance changes, and much more.
Overwatch 2 Season 7: Complete Details
The next major Overwatch 2 update is right around the corner with Season 7: The Rise of Darkness scheduled to go live on 10th October, Tuesday. Here is a brief preview of what the players can expect from it in terms of gameplay changes, new features, cosmetics, and more.
Overwatch 2 Season 7: Events
One of the biggest upcoming events for the Overwatch 2 community is going to be the Halloween Terror Event which is scheduled to take place from 10th October to 1st November.
This event will comprise of multiple interesting game modes, both old and new, like Trials of Sanctuary, Junkenstein's Revenge, and Wrath of the Bride.
Trials of Sanctuary
This is going to be the first-ever Blizzard crossover game mode between Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV.
In this limited-time game mode, players will enter a battle against the demons of the Burning Hells in a new co-op survival brawl.
Players will get an opportunity to play as one of the six different Heroes: Demon Hunter Sombra, Barbarian Zarya, Night Raven Illari, Cleric Lifeweaver, Imperious Reinhardt, and Inarius Pharah.
They will be facing an onslaught of unrelenting forces in a fierce battle for survival while facing challenging bosses like Azmodan Wrecking Ball, Butcher Roadhog, and Lilith Moira.
Halloween Terror Credits Shop
A special limited-time shop will be arriving in Overwatch 2 allowing players to unlock Heroes and purchase returning skins using Credits from 10th October to 7th November.
This is the first time that players will get an opportunity to unlock Heroes like Sojourn, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Ramattra, and Lifeweaver directly through Credits, available for one week only from 10th to 17th October.
Apart from this, players will also be able to purchase returning skins including Gilded Hunter Sombra Legendary Skin, Demon Hunter Sombra Remix Skin, and more, available for the entire duration of the shop.
Overwatch 2 Season 7 - Battle Pass Overwatch 2 Season 7: Battle Pass
The dark-themed battle pass will as usual consist of items and cosmetics, that all players can unlock by progressing ahead.
Through the free tiers of the premium battle pass, players can attain skins like Victorian Ghost Lucio and Crimson Clown Soldier: 76. Those who purchase the Battle Pass can further attain skins like Azmondan Wrecking Ball, Victorian Doll Echo, and Diesel Barron Ramattra. At the very end, on the 80th tier, players will be able to earn the Onryō Hanzo Mythic Skin.
Players who purchase the Ultimate version of the battle pass will get additional Legendary Lilith Moira Skin and Legendary Inarius Pharah Skin, along with a pumpkin-spice-themed Epic Bastion Skin.
Overwatch 2 Season 7: Hero Balance Changes
Illari
Upcoming changes to the secondary fire of her Solar Rifle, which is the medium-range healing beam.
Zarya
The size of the Projected Barrier on an ally will be reduced to previous numbers.

Orisa
The damage reduction gained by Fortify will be reduced.
Torbjorn
The recovery time of Torbjorn's primary fire will be nerfed.
Mei
All abilities and changes rolled back to the time this Hero was first introduced in Overwatch 2 Season 5.
No longer has the Deep Chill passive ability.
Overwatch 2 Season 7: Hero Reworks
Along with the new update, two Heroes that will undergo a massive overhaul are Sombra and Roadhog.
Sombra
The changes for Sombra have already been announced by the developers, who have introduced a new ability called Virus to her overall kit, while making Stealth a passive ability.

Roadhog
The changes for Roadhog have not been shared till now but the developers have clarified what they want to achieve with his rework.
Roadhog's ability to protect his team and claim space will be increased.
His overall identity and playstyle will be maintained.
Some of his powers will be moved around so that everything is not completely dependent on his ability to one-shot others.
Roadhog will get a new ability, details about which will be provided in the weeks ahead.
Overwatch 2 Season 7: Samoa
A new map for the control game mode will be released along with Season 7 called Samoa. The developers are touting it as the most complex battlefield in the game so far.
Here, players will fight on different backdrops like tropical beaches, villages, and even inside a volcano.
Samoa is currently available to play within the Arcade section of Overwatch 2 and will be available in Quick Play and other unranked modes from 10th October onwards.
Overwatch 2 Season 7: Map Changes
One of the original escort game mode maps in Overwatch 2 called Route 66 will be undergoing some adjustments to provide better protection for attackers while exiting their initial spawn.
Despite the overhanging rail cars blocking the view, the Panorama Diner is pleased to announce that they are open for business and offer additional cover from the barrage of weapon fire from the Defending team.
As players push the Payload past the first checkpoint, the doors will now malfunction and only close part-way, giving attackers more options to work through the difficult choke points.
Defenders will have more options to stop attacking teams from capping the final checkpoint as some of the cargo is now removed in the Deadlock Gang’s lair.
Players will also be able to cool off with new overcast lighting for the map.

Also, the developers have stated that all Overwatch 2 players who log in between 10th to 16th October will receive 3000 Overwatch Credits as an apology for the bug faced during the recent Anniversary Event.
