Summer is one of the most exciting seasons in League of Legends just like it is IRL! Each year, Riot Games plans a big in-game event, treating players with a lot of fun missions and cosmetics along with other goodies. On 23rd June, Riot released a new teaser trailer, which looked like a cinematic and fans thought it was some promotion for Project L. However, a few frames into the teaser, it became clear that it was for the 2023 Summer Event. Titled Soul Fighter, this event will bring forth a new set of in-game skins and also the much-awaited 2v2v2v2 deathmatch mode.
Here’s all we know about the Soul Fighter Summer Event.
Soul Fighter Summer Event Explained
The Soul Fighter Summer Event’s trailer is called “Enter the Arena” and this colorful teaser trailer featured beloved League of Legends champions gearing up for a fight in a huge colosseum reverberating with the cheers of the onlookers. The announcer for the tournament in the video says, “It’s a beautiful day out here at the Arena! We’re finally back for another legendary Tournament of Souls!”
Commenting on this video, one enthusiastic League of Legends player guessed, “Best guess is that it’s the 2v2v2v2 and it’ll be accompanied by an event in the other games. If you notice when they show the arena there’s a circle in the middle then there’s 6 visible circles around it, grouped in 2s and across each other.”
From the video, it also became apparent that the Summer Event will be spread across other Riot Games’ titles including:
League of Legends
Wild Rift
Teamfight Tactics
Legends of Runeterra
When Is Soul Fighter Summer Event Starting?
According to the YouTube video published by Riot Games, the Soul Fighter event is scheduled to kick off on 20th July. Last year, The Star Guardian missions were the Summer Event. Notably, the Star Guardian 2022 Event went live on the servers on 14th July 2022 and ran for exactly a month, concluding on 15th August 2022. So players can expect the Soul Fighter event to be live in the game until 20th August atleast.
In 2021, players had a massive Ruination event for Summer. However, players were not ecstatic since there were no special game modes.
Additionally, LoL Patch 13.14 is scheduled to drop on 19th July and as usual, a day later the bunch of new skins and the new game mode will be released with the Summer Event which is centralized around the theme of this exclusive in-universe event.
