Actor Tom Holland has achieved a great deal of recognition after being cast in Sony’s recent Spiderman movies. He is also set to appear in the film adaptation of the Uncharted games. But a lot of Apex Legends fans seem to think that Holland is also a fan of the battle royale. The actor has never stated that he plays Apex Legends, but you would be forgiven for thinking otherwise. Numerous streamers and pros have a running gag where they refer to Younes "Horizxon" Elkherrat as Tom Holland and that’s where the misconception among fans started.

Why is Guild Esports’ Younes "Horizxon" Elkherrat called Tom Holland?

Elkherrat is British just like Holland and shares a similar accent and voice. With a number of high-profile streamers posting videos of their games with Elkherrat claiming they played with Holland, fans started believing that the actor plays Apex Legends.

Content creator Timmy “iiTzTimmy” An is one of the biggest streamers to contribute to the running gag in the community. An posted a video titled “Playing Ranked with Tom Holland” which has over 700,000 views. NRG’s Brandon “Aceu” Winn also posted a video with a similar title twice with one of the videos getting over 2.4 million views. Even Elkherrat’s viewers during his stream have started calling him Tom Holland over the past couple of months.

Elkherrat plays for British esports organization Guild Esports, which is owned by soccer star David Beckham. The 20-year old Apex pro competes with Matej “MaTaFe” Fekonja and Juho “Silta” Sillanpää. The team was formed in October 2021 and the trio will be competing throughout this year’s Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) in the EMEA region. Last year, the team finished third in Europe’s ALGS Pro League event.
