TI10 Main Event Day Five recap and highlights

Invictus Gaming, despite a peculiar hiccup, secured its victory

The series between the two Chinese powerhouses began with an abandoned Aegis in the pit. At the 17-minute mark, IG took down Roshan but nobody from its team picked up the Aegis. Not long after, old eLeVeN came into the pit and snatched the Aegis.

After he picked up the Aegis, Vici Gaming typed haha on all chat

Valve

Nevertheless, IG came out on top of the first game. In the second game, Vici stayed on top of the net worth lead with a heavily farmed Morphling on Poyoyo. However, IG’s teamfight execution and JT-’s Doom constantly landing on the Morphling, closed the game 2-0.

In the post-match interview, Oli explained the abandoned Aegis.

PSG.LGD’s holds on to its win streak at TI10

In one of the most high-profile matchups of the Main Event, Secret and PSG.LGD put up a crazy show. The first game saw Secret suffocating against LGD’s Tiny and Lycan combo. The two heroes had an insane damage output that melted the whole of Secret’s lineup and the game ended with a 49k net worth lead for LGD.

In the second match, Secret put up a stronger fight with a wild MATUMBAMAN on his Ursa. PSG.LGD was patient in its defense, with a Legion Commander constantly spamming Press the Attack on her teammates turning the tides. During a massive fight in front of its tier three towers, LGD managed to turn the tides and came knocking on Secret’s door the next minute. Secret attempted defense but after its cores were wiped out, they waved the white flag.

The Russian underdogs step closer to the Aegis

Team Spirit continued to impress as they delivered another outstanding series against the Singapore Major champions Invictus Gaming {IG). The first match witnessed a beautiful synergy among the Russian squad as they completely outplayed their opponents. A powerful mix of Collapse’s signature Mars, Miposhka’s life-saving Bane, and TORONTOTOKYO’s 5/0/15 KDA on Windranger resulted in a smooth first game for Spirit.

The second game saw a much better laning stage for iG, as they picked off valuable kills across the map. However, after a few errors on Flyfly’s Faceless Void who whiffed a few Chronospheres, iG found itself struggling. It also didn’t help that Collapse with a Refresher on his Doom, was constantly hunting down iG’s cores and turned most fights in their favor.

In one of the final fights, Team Spirit endured a double Chronosphere and Yatoro went berserk on his Drow Ranger, getting his second Rampage at TI10’s Main Event, closing out the game 2-0 and securing a Top 3 finish at TI10.

Best moments, highlights, and memes of the day

After the recent instances of players forgetting the Aegis of Immortal, Evil Geniuses came up with a to-do list for pro players at TI10.

A short segment with Ted "PyrionFlax" Forsyth brought to us a nostalgic journey through various Dota 2 Maps of the Past.

Clement "Puppey" Ivanov's traditional preparation before the Team Secret vs PSG.LGD series also caught the attention of money.

Unfortunately, Puppey definitely did not have fun in the game against PSG.LGD.

Today we also saw the much anticipated new hero finally being announced, and it is none other than Marci from Dota: Dragon's Blood. Along with the hero announcement, we saw Dragon's Blood Season 2's announcement as well.

Sébastien "Ceb" Debs, OG's offlaner, appeared on the draft panel of Team Secret vs PSG.LGD series, sharing oozing knowledge of the game.

Team Spirit vs Invictus Gaming was definitely the most hyped series of the tournament so far, breaking the peak concurrent viewership record of TI10.

Finally, to close out the day, an amazing all-star match took place between the English and Russian broadcast talent, featuring Mira "Ephey" Riad, Troels Lyngholt "syndereN" Nielsen, Danil "Dendi" Ishutin, Alexey "Solo" Berezin, and many more!

The English broadcast talent had an interesting group hug conflict before the match started (definitely not inspired by Alliance).

In the middle of the game, the English talent team once again seemingly replicated the hug just to bully poor Brian "BSJ" Canavan.

In the end, perhaps as a result of superior teamwork (do not bully people guys), the Russian broadcast team emerged victorious and will move on to face the mysterious 'Team Golems' tomorrow in yet another all-star match.

The fifth day has finally concluded and we are at the brink of TI10’s end. Today, Team Spirit convincingly eliminated Invictus Gaming 2-0 and proceed to the Lower Bracket Finals. There they will meet Team Secret and the winner of the matchup will go to the Grand Finals against PSG.LGD. More info about TI10 schedule and results can be found here.
