Ame cosplayed Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae from Honkai: Star Rail on a recent stream.
Ame playfully encouraged his audience to play Honkai: Star Rail and support Chinese (CN) Dota 2.

Honkai: Star Rail is extremely popular in China. In April 2023, there was an iconic collaboration between Honkai: Star Rail and the China High-Speed Railway, which saw a high-speed train bearing details from the game. Now, the game is crossing boundaries and is partnering with teams in Dota 2 esports. Recently, Honkai: Star Rail announced that it is sponsoring Dota 2 Chinese teams LGD Gaming and Azure Ray for their run at The International 2023 (TI12).

Recently, in a lighthearted yet impactful moment during a recent live stream on BiliBili, popular Chinese Dota 2 player Wang "Ame" Chunyu, currently on the inactive roster of LGD Gaming, embraced the world of cosplay yet again. He embodied the character Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae from Honkai: Star Rail. While the cosplay itself entertained his viewers, it was Ame's playful commentary about Dota 2 and Honkai: Star Rail that caught the attention of fans and the wider Dota 2 community.

If you are unfamiliar with Honkai: Star Rail, it is a popular role-playing gacha video game developed by miHoYo. This fantasy game has a plethora of characters and allows players to explore vast worlds across the stars while still following an immersive, story-rich campaign.

Cosplay Stream: Ame Encourages CN Dota 2 Fans to Play Honkai: Star Rail

Ame, known for his jovial personality, made a statement that resonated with supporters of Chinese Dota (CN Dota). He playfully encouraged his audience, saying, "If you don't play Honkai: Star Rail, you don't support Chinese Dota. Go play Honkai!" This light-hearted exhortation not only added humor to his stream but also underlined the idea of backing the local Dota 2 scene in China.

Ame was seen playing Honkai: Star Rail during his live stream and actively endorsing the game. His association with LGD Gaming, even in his inactive role, makes it understandable that he would support and promote the game. Alternatively, Ame's fondness for the game could also be a genuine motivation.

The backdrop for this engaging moment is the ongoing clash between LGD Gaming and Azure Ray in the upper bracket semifinals of The International 2023. The stakes are high as the winning team secures a safer route through the upper bracket, while the defeated squad will have to face the tumultuous challenges of the lower bracket, where even a single loss will spell elimination from the tournament.

This is not the first time Ame has been spotted cosplaying on his stream. At the start of the year in January 2023, Ame cosplayed a character from the role-playing game Genshin Impact. He wore a costume along with a wig reminiscent of Tartaglia (also known as Childe) from Genshin Impact. Ame appeared in a video with three girls who were also cosplaying as three different characters from Genshin Impact.
