YEKINDAR announced that he bought his player contract from Virtus.pro and is no longer a part of the organization.
YEKINDAR is now a free CS:GO agent and will be announcing news about his future very soon.
YEKINDAR has already played four CS:GO tournaments as a stand-in with Team Liquid and is also a part of their active roster for IEM Rio Major 2022.

The aggressive entry fragger from Latvia, Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis, has bought his contract from Virtus.pro (VP) to become a free CS:GO agent. The 23-year-old made the announcement yesterday on 14th October, opening himself to offers from other teams and organizations.

VP had moved YEKINDAR to its inactive roster five months ago in May, right after the culmination of the PGL Antwerp Major 2022. He was reportedly facing a lot of public pressure since he was a Latvian citizen playing for a Russian esports organization, the tense and stressful situation resulted in him getting benched.

Since then YEKINDAR has continued to operate as a stand-in with Team Liquid, already having competed in IEM Cologne 2022, BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2022, ESL Pro League Season 16, and IEM Road to Rio 2022: American RMR.

There is a high possibility that Team Liquid may potentially go ahead and sign YEKINDAR before the IEM Rio Major 2022 as he is no longer under contract with the Russian organization.

Providing an update on his situation, YEKINDAR announced that he had successfully bought himself out of his contract with Virtus.pro "a while back" and was excited about his new chapter in life.

Talking about the whole process, YEKINDAR said that it was all "really complex" due to which it ended up taking a few months time to complete. The change in ownership that VP underwent contributed to this process, further extending the timeline of completion.

YEKINDAR thanked all his teammates and expressed that he was looking forward to announcing his future plans very soon, which could see him potentially becoming a part of Team LIquid's active CS:GO roster having already played four consecutive tournaments with them.

Earlier, Steve "jokasteve" Perino - General Manager of Team Liquid, had confirmed that they were trying to work on a "good long-term" deal with YEKINDAR and will hopefully have something positive soon.

  • Keith "NAF" Markovic

  • Joshua "oSee" Ohm

  • Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella

  • Damian "daps" Steele - Coach
