S1mple Talks About His GOAT Status in CS:GO and Goals for 2022
Another year of dominance for NAVI?!
Natus Vincere (NAVI) heavily dominated the competitive CS:GO circuit last year, with a huge contribution being made by their star player Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev. Not only did he experience a fantastic year individually, but was also blessed to receive the appropriate support that he had been seeking from all his teammates for quite some time.
The community at large started acknowledging s1mple as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) of Counter-Strike, following his achievements which included winning the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and being named the best CS:GO player in the world by HLTV.
In a recent interview with Dot Esports, s1mple addressed this GOAT status that has been bestowed upon him by the community, while also reiterating the team's goals for 2022.
S1mple comments on the GOAT status given to him by the CS:GO community
Majority of the CS:GO community has started acknowledging s1mple as the GOAT of Counter-Strike, now that he has finally won a Major trophy for which he was even awarded the MVP (Most Valuable Player) award.
However, s1mple differs from the public opinion. The 24-year-old while sharing his thoughts on the topic said that, "No, I don't think so yet".
Further elaborating on his response s1mple explained that if only his individual performance is to be considered then yes, that GOAT status fits well. On the other hand, in terms of achievements or even overall performance, it is still a no.
It would be better to tell myself that I’m not the best yet, to keep grinding to my highest level.Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev - Interview with Dot Esports
As a viewer, it is impossible to imagine a player superseding what s1mple achieved last year, for which he was named the 'Best Esports Athlete' by The Game Awards 2021, 'Esports PC Player of the Year' by the Esports Awards 2021, and the best CS:GO player in the world as per HLTV rankings.
He further spoke about NAVI's goals for the 2022 season. Comparing themselves to Astralis, s1mple said that, "We have goals to win more Majors and more trophies, because there’s one team who won four Majors, and we definitely want to win at least two or three."
