Dev1ce Hails S1mple as the Current Best Individual CS:GO Player in the World
One GOAT appreciating another!
Natus Vincere has been turning a lot of heads ever since their impressive performance at IEM Cologne 2021 and ESL Pro League Season 14. While the entire team is coming along very well, the primary driving force for the team has been their star player Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev who has already won five MVP medals in 2021 so far.
This has brought the total tally of s1mple's silverware to 16 MVP medals, just two shy of tying with Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz' record of 18 MVP awards. Dev1ce holds the CS:GO record for the highest MVP medals for an individual player.
In a statment to Dexerto, the Danish AWPer spoke about him being overtaken. Dev1ce stated that he is not worried about losing out to s1mple and that he is looking to win more tournaments rather than chase individual accolades.
Danish AWPer dev1ce thinks s1mple is the best individual CS:GO player in the world
With a total of 16 MVP awards to his name, s1mple is just two shy of tying with dev1ce. Commenting on the same the Danish sniper said that his focus currently lies on winning tournaments and that s1mple deserves this success as "He is the best player in the world right now, in my opinion".
Individual accolades are cool and part of the game, but I honestly don’t care too much about them. For me, s1mple is the best individual player. I think he will probably get there at one point or another because he’s also younger than me. It’s cool for him, he is a nice guy and his success is well deserved.Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz - Statement to Dexerto
Ever since his transition from Astralis to NIP, dev1ce has been struggling to find his rhythm and form. He has shown glimpses of his former self, but has failed to deliver consistently, to the extent of it even leading to moments of frustration. But despite the struggles he continues to keep his eye on the prize.
However, the 26-year-old has not completely given up on being the star performer for his side as he adds that winning an MVP medal is sort of a second priority for him now.
Meanwhile, s1mple has managed to take the spotlight, pulling off incredible performances with both the AWP and the rifle. Together with NAVI, s1mple has had a terrific season so far, winning five MVP medals. The team managed to secure the Intel Grand Slam Season 3.
If s1mple is able to attain another MVP medal for himself in the currently ongoing IEM Fall 2021: CIS, then it be just one more medal towards equalising dev1ce's record.
From there on NAVI just needs to win the PGL Major Stockholm 2021, for s1mple to win his first CS:GO Major while also guaranteeing his 18th MVP medal.
