ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND CS:GO Festival 2020

Oceania Region

VERTEX Esports Club had a fairly easy time reaching the grand final, but the same cannot be said about their opponents Bizarre Gaming. After losing their opening match, Bizarre had a cinderella run through the lower bracket winning four matches in a row to faceoff against VERTEX ESC.

The finals went down to a decider as Bizarre equalized the score after securing a close victory on Nuke. Even the last game on Overpass was well fought between the two sides before VERTEX was finally able to claim victory. The Australian organization celebrated this victory, receiving $1,000 USD in prize money along with the title of Oceania champions for ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND 2020.

South Asia

These qualifiers played out as expected with the two favorite regional teams BL4ZE Esports and 2ez Gaming reaching the grand finals. But both teams faced unexpected hiccups on their way to the finals, 2ez against Fit For Esports in their opening match and BL4ZE against Wicked in the semifinals.

The finals was also an exciting affair with both the teams claiming a map each before duking it out on Inferno. The final map heavily favored BL4ZE Esports who won Inferno with a ‘16-7’ scoreline, winning $1,000 USD in prize money along with the title of South Asia champions for ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND 2020.

Southeast Asia Region

It was not an easy road for Paper Rex to win this regional tournament. SEA was one of the most competitive regions with some of the best teams participating in it. Paper Rex had a tough semifinals match against Beyond Esports which went down to a decider, but they managed to clinch it making their way to the grand finals where they went up against ZIGMA.

Another three-game showdown ensued where Paper Rex went on to win the match after an initial ‘0-1’ deficit. The team really gave it all to win the finals, walking away with $1,000 USD in prize money and the title of Southeast Asia champions for ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND 2020.

East Asia

This was the only regional qualifiers that faced heavy delays and a lot of last-minute adjustments, but the faceoff between Mongolian and Chinese teams was a treat to watch. This was one of the only regional events in which the teams who had made their way through the open qualifiers actually put on a good show.

The finals played between The Black Company and Wings Up Gaming was a treat to watch as both teams won their respective maps to take the match down to a decider on Inferno. The last game finished on a ‘16-14’ scoreline that favored Wings Up Gaming, who won 5 ZOWIE XL2546K monitors as a prize along with the title of East Asia champions for ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND 2020.

Middle East

The last regional qualifier won by Sangal Esports was a thrilling end to a great tournament. NASR Esports who was one of the favorites to win the regional tournament faced intense back-to-back matches in the semifinals and finals against BlindTappers and Sangal.

NASR barely made it to the finals after an overtime thriller against BlindTappers and were once again pushed to their limits. Unfortunately, this time Sangal took the upper hand as they narrowly beat NASR with a ‘2-1’ scoreline. The Turkish lineup won $1,000 USD in prize money along with the title of Middle East champions for ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND 2020.
