The 8 team playoffs stage started on 22 Jan with 4 Mongolian teams going up against 4 Chinese teams in the opening round. The teams competing were a mix of direct invites and teams making their way through the open qualifiers.

This was a win for the Mongolian region as The Black Company, Checkmate, and TIGER, won their respective matches to make it to the semifinals. The only Chinese team to make it through the first round was Wings Up Gaming, who had a tough time against D13 with the match going down to the wire.

Both the semifinal matches were a close affair ending with a ‘2-1’ scoreline, The Black Company and Checkmate won a map each before going ham against each other on the third map Mirage. The final game lasted for three overtimes before going in favour of The Black Company who won it with a ‘25-22’ scoreline.

Wings Up Gaming were up against TIGER, who were the favorites to win the tournament. However, their performance was not up to the mark because, despite the series going down to the final map, Wings looked like the better team between the two across all departments.

The finale was another cracker of a series where Wings Up Gaming stood up to the occasion and delivered a ‘2-1’ comeback after losing the first map. The Black Company was a tough team to go up against but despite all the trouble Wings fought hard to keep pace, shifting gears towards the final moments of consecutive maps to steal close victories.

With this, Wings Up Gaming have been crowned as the champions of the East Asian region and join other teams like Paper Rex and VERTEX Esports Club, who are the champions of SEA and Oceania regions.

Now, only two more regions are left to play out their regional events; South Asia and the Middle East, which are scheduled to take place from 29-31 Jan and 12-14 Feb respectively.
