The MPL PH Season 9 "Team of the Season" lineup was highly similar to last year's player selection where the main Blacklist International squad earned the title but without its star Jungler, Wise.
Wise received a lot of criticism because he had only achieved second place as Kairi had earned the top spot as the best Jungler for Season 8.
Wise explained that the meta back then was more on Assassin Junglers, making his Tank Jungle playstyle less popular.

The Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) recently released its Team of the Season title. The team composition highly resembles that of last season when the main Blacklist International squad earned the same title but without its star Jungler Danerie “Wise” James Del Rosario. Through a video posted on YouTube, Wise recalled how he was bashed for not being the top Jungle player despite his team winning the MPL PH Season 8 title. He explained that last season was the era of Assassin Junglers and he was more into a Tank Jungle and Objective-focused playstyle, a strategy that later shaped the meta of MPL PH Season 9.

Wise sacrificed flashy playstyles for Blacklist International’s dominant strategy

The coaches of the M3 World Champion have lauded Wise’s impressive mastery over the Jungle meta in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB). While the star Jungler does know how to play assassins, he adjusted to fit into Blacklist International’s Ultimate Bonding Experience (UBE) strategy which spearheaded the team into claiming back-to-back MPL PH Season titles along with the coveted world series championship title as well.

When the MPL PH revealed its Team of the Season last year, the lineup was comprised of Blacklist International’s Edward "EDWARD" Jay Dapadap, Mark "ESON" Jayson Gerardo, Kiel "OHEB" Calvin Soriano, Salic "Hadji" Alauya Imam, Jonmar "OhMyV33NUS" Villaluna, and ONIC PH’s Kairi "Kairi" Ygnacio Rayosdelsol.

Team of the Season for MPL PH S8

As Wise and his partner OhMyV33NUS reviewed the Team of the Season for the MPL PH Season 9 through a YouTube video, the two figured that the lineup was highly similar to last year’s selection. Wise shared his frustration that he was not able to join his squad in the Team of the Season lineup last year.

The Season 9 Team of the Season was made up of the main RSG PH squad with Eman "EMANN" Sangco being left out in favor of Omega Esports’ Grant "Kelra" Pillas.

“In the past seasons, I was like that, I wasn’t there [part of the Team of the Season] while all of Blacklist [International] was there along with Kairi,” said Wise.

He added that he received a lot of criticism because he only achieved second place with Kairi earning the top spot as the best Jungler for the MPL PH Season 8.

“We really can’t deny that last season Kairi had an amazing performance, he really carried his team,” said OhMyV33NUS. “Of course, as a Tank Jungler, you [Wise] aren’t really that explosive or flashy.”

However, with the support of his team, Wise was able to leave it all behind him and continue to be Blacklist International’s reliable Jungler.

“The important thing is the team [Blacklist International] knows the value you are giving,” stated OhMyV33NUS.

The dynamic duo of OhMyV33NUS and Wise will soon face their next challenge as Blacklist International will be carrying the Sibol National Team banner to compete in the upcoming 31st Southeast Asia Games.
