The upcoming League of Legends (LoL): Wild Rift (WR) Patch 2.5 will be arriving a little bit later than expected, according to Ben “Draggles” Forbes, the communications lead at Riot Games. The patch has been delayed due to Hurricane Ida. Riot Games is yet to reveal the patch preview, which has also been postponed and has now been rescheduled to be in line with the patch update schedule.
Hurricane Ida impacted the development timeline for Wild Rift
It’s been a while since LoL WR has received some major content in-game. Fans are eagerly awaiting the next major patch update which will bring with it a host of new content for the players.
Wild Rift’s communication’s lead, Draggles, tweeted on 4th October that the patch update will not be arriving this week. In response to many disappointed fans Draggles stated Hurricane Ida is the reason for the delay of the Wild Rift Patch 2.5 update. The patch delay was implemented to provide extra time for the Quality Assurance (QA) testers who are impacted by Hurricane Ida, in New Orleans.
The much-awaited Wild Rift Patch 2.5 patch preview has also been rescheduled closer to the release date of the patch update. Some fans were disappointed and questioned him as to why is the patch preview is delayed as well. Draggles responded that the delay for the patch preview is not that long and fans will have to wait for maybe just a day or two.
Draggles made a follow-up Tweet, revealing that the current WR Battle Pass will also be affected by the delay. The devs previously promised that there will be no downtime between each Battle Pass season. However, due to the delayed patch update, the current Battle Pass will end on 7th Oct 2021 with no new Battle Pass season to follow until the upcoming patch update arrives.
Leaks reveal three new champions for Wild Rift Patch 2.5
According to data miners, three new champions may be arriving in Wild Rift soon. The data miner revealed a screenshot of in-game assets for Caitlyn, Jayce, and Veigar. However, Caitlyn’s splash art received a slight change, showing less skin by covering some parts of her body.
Riot Games is yet to officially confirm this information so it should be taken with a grain of salt. Fans will have to wait for the upcoming patch preview to know more about the upcoming champions in LoL WR.
