ESL Mobile has announced a national tournament called League Of Legends: Wild Rift Oceania Championships with a $5,000 USD prize pool. The Wild Rift esports event will kick off with an open qualifier on 4th July, 2021. Teams of up to seven players can register in the qualifiers. The tournament will have four stages; open qualifiers, esports swiss, top 8 round robin, and top 4 gauntlet. According to ESL Mobile, the winners of the Wild Rift Oceania Championships will earn a spot in the upcoming international tournament in October 2021. Wild Rift Oceania Championships Details

The tournament was revealed by ESL Mobile through their official social media handles. The tournament will last from the open qualifiers on 4th July to the grand finals on 5th Sept, 2021.

The Wild Rift Oceania Championships will have four stages;

Stage 1: Open Qualifiers

The matches in the Open Qualifiers will be held in a BO3 format and will hold up to 128 teams per qualifier.

  • Open Qualifier #1: 4th July

  • Open Qualifier #2: 11th July

  • Open Qualifier #3: 18th July

  • Open Qualifier #4: 25th July

Stage 2: Esports Swiss

The top 16 of the open qualifiers will proceed to the second stage. Teams will compete in five rounds of esports swiss. Each round will be against teams on the same series win/loss ratio with 3 wins qualifying them to the next stage and 3 losses eliminating you. The second stage will be held on 15th Aug, 2021.

Stage 3: Round Robin

The top 8 teams from the esports swiss bracket will compete in a round robin BO3 format and secure a spot in the top 4 gauntlet stage. The third stage will start on 22nd August and 29th Aug, 2021.

Stage 4: Gauntlet

The remaining 4 teams will compete in the gauntlet stage for the championship title and a lion’s share of the $5,000 prize pool. The grand finale will be held on 5th Sept, 2021.

The 4th place and 3rd place from the round robin will battle each other and the winner will then take on 2nd place. The victor of that will compete in the grand final against the 1st place team from the round-robin stage.

Wild Rift Oceania Championships: Prize Pool Distribution

The $5,000 prize pool will be split as follows;

  • First place: $2,000

  • Second place: $1,250

  • Third place: $750

  • Fourth place: $500

Additionally, the champions of the tournament will also earn a spot for the “International Tournament” which is speculated to be the upcoming Wild Rift World Championships 2021. However, it is still unclear if this is the exact competition that the winners of the Wild Rift Oceania Championships will qualify for.

Riot Games is starting to release various national esports events for Wild Rift like the Wild Tour in Brazil and the Oceania Championships. It will be interesting to see how these competitions will lead to a Wild Rift World Championships in the future.
