The group stage of Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021 is scheduled to kick off on 11th Sept 2021.
The eight teams from the qualifiers have been revealed and will compete in the group stage to determine who will proceed to the playoffs stage.
Teams will be competing for the lion’s share of the ¥6,500,000 ($60,000 USD) prize pool and the honor of representing Japan in the upcoming Wild Rift World Championship 2021.

The group stage of the League of Legends: Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021 has been officially announced and is expected to kick off on 11th September and will last until 26th Sept 2021. The top eight Japanese teams from the qualifiers will be equally divided into two groups and will compete in a single round-robin BO3 format for a spot in the playoffs. Teams will be competing for the lion’s share of the ¥6,500,000 ($60,000 USD) prize pool. The crowned champions will also have the honor of representing Japan in the upcoming Wild Rift World Championship 2021.

Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021 Group Stage details

The Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021 is the first official regional esports event for the Wild Rift Esports scene in the region. The tournament is organized by Japanese esports event organizer, X-Moment, and started with the qualifiers back in July 2021.

According to a Twitter post by Wild Rift Esports Japan, the teams will be divided into two groups with four teams each and will be competing in a single round-robin BO3 format. The top two teams from each group will proceed to the playoffs.

Here are the eight qualified teams who will be participating in the Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021 Group Stage;

Group A

  • FIRST Gaming

  • Killer Gaming

  • SCARZ

Group B

  • DetonatioN Gaming

  • Unsold Stuff Gaming

  • Sengoku Gaming

  • 波乗りブースト

The teams who qualified for the playoffs will compete in a single-elimination BO3 format in the semifinals. The two dominant teams from the semifinals will then face each other in the grand finals in a BO5 format to determine who will earn the championship title and get the honor of being seeded in the upcoming Wild Rift World Championship 2021.

Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021 prize pool distribution

The ¥6,500,000 ($60,000 USD) prize pool of the tournament will be distributed among the teams as seen below;

  • 1st place – ¥4,000,000 ($36,366 USD)

  • 2nd place – ¥1,000,000 ($9,092 USD)

  • 3rd – 4thplace – ¥500,000 ($4,546 USD)

  • 5th – 8th place – ¥250,000 ($2,273 USD)

The Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021 will be broadcasted live on the official Twitch channel of Riot Games Japan. All matches will be streamed with Japanese commentators.
