Riot Games has announced the details of Japan’s first official League of Legends: Wild Rift regional esports event, the Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021, in collaboration with Japanese tournament organizer, X-moment. The Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021 is scheduled to kick off on 11th September 2021 featuring the top eight teams from the qualifiers competing for the lion’s share of the ¥6.5 million ($59,041 USD). The crowned champions will have a chance to represent Japan in the upcoming Wild Rift Worlds Championship. Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021 Details
The July qualifier stage for the tournament has recently concluded with Killer Gaming and Donuts Unsold Stuff Gaming (Donuts USG) dominating the qualifier stage. The second qualifier stage will be held in August 2021 followed by the Last Chance qualifiers where teams will get a second shot at earning a slot in the grand finals.
Wild Rift Japan Cup 2021 Prize Pool
The prize pool of ¥6.5 million ($59,041 USD) will be split according to their final ranking in the tournament’s grand finals.
1st place – ¥4,000,000 ($36,329 USD)
2nd place – ¥1,000,000 ($9,082 USD)
3rd – 4thplace – ¥500,000 ($4,541 USD)
5th – 8th place – ¥250,000 ($2,271 USD).
The crowned champions of the tournament will represent Japan in the upcoming Wild Rift Worlds Championship which will be revealed at a later date.
