RRQ PH Releases DevilJ and Maze From Its Wild Rift Roster
RRQ Philippines (PH) has released two of its League of Legends: Wild Rift pro players shortly after the team’s huge upset at the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022. The squad had a smooth run from the Play-ins stage up till the Group Stage. However, the team was severely overwhelmed in the Playoffs stage resulting in a clean sweep defeat against a Chinese team, resulting in its elimination from the tournament. Despite its surprising defeat in the Playoffs stage, the team received a lot of support from fans due to its members’ outgoing and relaxed personalities amidst the pressure of competing in the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022.
DevilJ and Maze bid farewell to RRQ PH’s Wild Rift squad
Through a Facebook post on 7th July, RRQ PH announced the release of Keith "DevilJ" Janold Gonzales and Mark "Maze" Jentry Peñafuerte Galang. In the post, the esports organization captioned, “DevilJ and Maze are a part of the team that has amazed the world thus far. Thus from the bottom of our hearts, we would like to Thank them and Wish them the best of luck.”
Maze and DevilJ were a part of the RRQ PH squad which represented the Philippines during the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022. The team was eliminated in its first match in the Playoffs after it suffered a clean sweep defeat against FunPlus Phoenix, one of the most dominant Chinese teams in the tournament.
Despite an upsetting performance in the Playoffs stage, RRQ PH remained one of the fan favorites of the tournament. This is due to the players being energetic and showing that they are genuinely enjoying the competition despite the pressure of going up against the best Wild Rift teams in the world.
DevilJ is . According to his post, he is open to joining foreign teams. Maze is yet to announce his plans moving forward. It shall be most interesting to see which teams shall acquire the two promising pro players for future Wild Rift tournaments.
