Talking about BGMI’s potential return, Owais said, “Everyone is saying that it will come in January, but I don’t have any idea. As everyone is saying January, hopefully, it will return in January. No one is more eager than us to play the game again, and play tournaments.”

Owais stated that his current BGMI roster includes the following four players.

  • Owais

  • Daljit "Daljitsk" Singh

  • Akash “MaxKasH” Anandani

  • Nexus

Following this, he added, “But we haven’t given it a thought because the game is unavailable. When the game returns, I will update everyone about our roster.”

Owais has been a part of the BGMI community since the start. He is one of the most influential figures in the Indian BGMI community and arguably one of the best players in India. He started his esports career with Team SouL. He made a name for himself and the team with an incredible performance to win multiple titles, including the PUBG Mobile India Series 2019 and the PUBG Mobile Club Open - Spring Split: India. After that, the pro player played under the banner of multiple organizations and even represented India on the global stage on multiple occasions.

The government of India blocked BGMI in July 2022 under section 69A of the IT Act 2000 due to concern for national security. Although Krafton has not explicitly mentioned anything about BGMI’s return in the Indian market, it has made a few changes in-game and on the game’s website that hints about the game’s potential return. Furthermore, a lot of influential personalities, including Harshdeep “SardarJi” Singh, Yash Bhanushali, Saumya “Saumraj” Raj, and more, from the Indian gaming community have stated that the game would return in January 2023.
