ONIC PH’s team captain, Allen "Baloyskie" Baloy, expressed his shock at the subpar performance of its Indonesian sister team, ONIC Esports during the group stage of the M3 World Championships. Both fans and teams alike were taken aback when the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational (MPLI) 2021 champions finished at the bottom of the Group B rankings, more so as it was considered to be in favor of both ONIC PH and ONIC Esports. Baloyskie stated in a post-match interview that he did not expect the sister team to be defeated by Todak and the underdog team of Keyd Stars in the group stage of the M3 World Championship.

ONIC Esports shocks fans as it underperforms during the group stage of the M3 World Championship

Some of the most interesting moments in the tournament so far was the unexpected performance of the Malaysian team Todak and the Brazilian underdogs Keyd Stars. Both teams managed to take down one of the strongest teams in the Mobile Legends esports scene, ONIC Esports.

Fans were stunned by the final results of the Group B rankings when ONIC Esports only secured one win and two losses, placing them at the bottom of the rankings alongside Keyd Stars with a similar standing.

The final standing of Group B in the M3 World Championship

According to a report from ABS-CBN, during a post-match interview, ONIC PH’s team captain Baloyskie commented on the sister team’s upsetting performance and said it was very unexpected that the champions of Indonesia fell to the hands of Todak and Keyd Stars.

“We (ONIC PH) were in shock, actually. We expect them (ONIC Esports) to wipe out the whole bracket (Group B) because, for us, they are the hardest team to beat and we were surprised that they were defeated by Vivo (Keyd Stars) and Todak,” stated Baloyskie, as quoted by ABS-CBN.

Throughout the Group B matchup, ONIC Esports was only able to win against its sister team ONIC PH. However, despite the sister team falling to the hands of its counterpart, ONIC PH performed better overall with a score of two wins and one loss alongside Todak, who also shared a similar standing.

With ONIC Esports heading to the lower bracket, it will be interesting to see if the Indonesian team climbs back up the ladder in the upcoming playoffs stage of the M3 World Championship.
