Omega Esports Disbands Its Wild Rift Team

Omega Esports officially announces the disbandment of its Wild Rift team through a social media post on 26th Oct 2021. Back in September 2021, two of its members alongside the team’s head coach officially left the Wild Rift squad. The last four members of the Omega Esports Wild Rift team were released shortly after. The reason for the organization’s decision in disbanding its Wild Rift team is yet to be revealed. However, fans speculate that this is due to Moonton’s exclusivity deal which hinders Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) organizations from creating Wild Rift teams. However, this information is yet to be confirmed.

Omega Esports releases its Wild Rift squad

One of the most prominent esports organizations in the Philippines, Omega Esports, officially disbanded its Wild Rift team. Through an official Twitter post, the organization revealed that it will be releasing the four remaining members of its Wild Rift squad and formally exiting the Wild Rift esports scene.

“Today, we formally announce the exit of our LOL: Wild Rift under the Omega Esports name,” captioned Omega Esports. “Thank you for representing the green and blue jersey and see you guys around!”

Omega Esports was one of the pioneers of the Wild Rift esports scene in the Philippines. The team won championship titles for both community-driven and official Riot Games esports events such as the Wild Rift Asia Brawl 2021, Bit Wars Open Qualifier #2, Zenith Open Asia Spring, and the Philippines Pro Gaming League (PPGL) Summer Split: Luzon South Regionals.

However, Omega Esports’ Wild Rift team failed to book a ticket to the Wild Rift Southeast Asia Championship 2021 after finishing only 4th place in the PPGL 2021 Fall: Playoffs. Shortly after this, the team’s Singaporean coach John “Glaceox” Lim left the team along with the two pro players Jaiby "JLC" Paglingayen and John Loyd "Impressive" Dela Cruz.

Fans thought that the organization was simply trying to revamp its team roster. However, the organization soon released Miguel "Arisen" Vincent Pison, Maynard "Arise" Limon, Gerald "Taymlaps" Bermundo, and Ronel "Stronger" Tan from its Wild Rift roster before announcing its disbandment.

The reason why Omega Esports disbanded its Wild Rift team remains a mystery to fans and the organization provided no explanation for the same.

It will be interesting to see which teams the former Omega Esports members join in future Wild Rift esports events. Fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for more updates.
