Debuting esports pro player, Jhonwin “Hesa” Vergara from Nexplay EVOS received praise from Blacklist International’s coach, Kristoffer "BON CHAN" Ricaplaza. Despite Nexplay EVOS failing to win against the defending champions of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH), Blacklist International acknowledged the team’s improvement since last season. During a post-game press conference, BON CHAN stated that the addition of Nexplay’s analyst, Neil “Midnight” De Guzman, and head coach John “Zico” Dizon proved a great investment for the team. He also added that Hesa might be the most promising rookie to keep an eye out for the MPL PH Season 8. The coach also revealed that they were planning on suppressing the rookie in-game but Hesa stood firm no matter what.

Nexplay EVOS opened their season’s run against one of the toughest enemies of the MPL PH, Blacklist International. Despite the team’s unsuccessful run against the defending champions, Blacklist International stated that the team has definitely improved this season.

Blacklist International dominated their opening match against Nexplay EVOS with a score of 2-1. Nexplay showed their might during the first match but the defending champions proved to have come prepared and made a comeback in the next two games, securing their first win in the MPL PH Season 8.

Blacklist International’s coach, BON CHAN, stated during the post-game press conference that Nexplay EVOS has made a significant improvement since last season.

Maybe because of the new additions to the team that’s guiding them, unlike before where they did have guidance but it feels lacking. Now, they have a complete staff,” stated BON CHAN.

The coach also made a shoutout to Nexplay’s analyst, Midnight, for a job well done with helping his team improve. BON CHAN also added that Nexplay seems to have a much more refined system now and is more disciplined than before.

It looks like they now have a system. They also have discipline and don’t just get kills and no objectives,” stated BON CHAN.

The coach then switched his attention to Nexplay’s rookie player, Hesa. He was impressed by Hesa’s playstyle, saying that Hesa might be the star rookie for this season of MPL PH.

I think he (Hesa) will be the promising rookie in this MPL, his playstyle is different. We were expecting he would be nervous because it’s his first game in the MPL, but no, he did a great job in doing his role without a hint of nervousness,” stated BON CHAN.

The coach admitted that they were trying to pressure the rookie during their match. However, the rookie kept his cool and never showed weakness despite their constant pressure.

He doesn’t play passively, that was our game plan, to pressure him. We tried to pressure him but he kept his playstyle and never faltered,” stated BON CHAN.

Nexplay EVOS is scheduled to compete against a new contender in the MPL PH, TNC Pro Team, on 29th Aug 2021 at 6:00 PM (PHT). It will be interesting to see if they can secure a win before the first week officially ends or if they drop against the new team.
