A lot of events have transpired for the third week, with Blacklist International being the only team keeping its undefeated title in the tournament. Bren Esports finally broke free from its losing streak, thanks to its promising rookie, Muj “Malik” Malik, who played a pivotal role in the team’s success in the third week. Omega Esport’s Duane “Kelra” Pillas is finally back in action after being suspended for unprofessional behaviour. Here is a quick recap of the matches during the MPL PH Season 8 Week 3.

MPL PH Season 8 - Week 3 Day 1

RSG PH vs Nexplay EVOS (0-2)

With RENEJAY’s return to the main lineup, Nexplay EVOS is in its strongest form. RSG PH initiated an impressive defensive playstyle which allowed them to even out with Nexplay EVOS’s relentless assaults. However, Nexplay stayed consistent in taking objectives, giving it a huge advantage against RSG PH. The match ended with Nexplay EVOS securing a clean sweep victory of 0-2.

Bren Esports vs Omega Esports (2-0)

Bren Esports finally broke free from its losing streak and emerged victorious against Omega Esports. The world champion’s rookie, Malik became the center of attention due to his impressive performance throughout the match. ONIC PH vs RSG PH (1-2)

RSG PH started strong in the first match with John Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto leading the charge. ONIC PH managed to turn the tides on the second match, opening a third deciding match. However, RSG PH came back, unleashing relentless lane pressure which prevented ONIC PH from securing objectives and takedowns.

ECHO vs Nexplay EVOS (0-2)

Nexplay EVOS continues it’s successful runs with another clean sweep victory against ECHO. ECHO put up a good fight but with one of its members, Christian “Rafflesia” Fajura, not on his full potential due to contracting COVID-19, the team struggled to find its momentum throughout the match. This allowed Nexplay EVOS to earn another victory in its third consecutive win in the MPL PH Season 8.

Blacklist International vs Bren Esports (2-0)

The defending MPL PH champions Blacklist International dominated the M2 world champions, Bren Esports in a battle between the top-tier teams. Bren Esports put up a good fight and even tried to suppress Blacklist International’s by banning the comfort picks of team captain Jhonmar "OhMyV33nus" Villaluna. However, it didn’t stop the MPL PH defending champions from dominating the match with a final score of two wins and zero losses against Bren Esports.

TNC Pro Team vs Omega Esports (0-2)

Omega Esport proved that they are still in the competition with the return of Kelra. TNC Pro Team did showcase a good fight, forcing Omega Esports in a bad spot occasionally. However, the former Execration squad did not flinch and gave a wonderful performance, winning the match with a clean sweep victory of 2-0, in favor of Omega Esports.

Blacklist International vs ONIC PH (2-1)

Blacklist International started strong in the first match. However, a crucial misplay at the 21-minute mark allowed ONIC PH to flip the tide into its favor and went for a finishing blow. However, Blacklist International did not take any chances in the succeeding matches. The MPL PH defending champions did have a hard time against ONIC PH but Blacklist International kept its momentum going and secured two wins and one loss in the matchup.

RSG PH vs Bren Esports (2-1)

RSG PG showed dominance during the first match but a surprising comeback for Bren Esports was seen in the second round. This opened up a deciding match. RSG PH focused on starting teamfights while Bren Esports simply waited for potential counter-engage. Despite Bren Esport’s careful execution and map rotations, RSG PH took the win due to its super aggressive playstyle, barely giving Bren any time to strategize. Bren Esports put up a good fight but RSG takes the win with a score of 2-1.
