ECHO’s tank specialist Christian “Rafflesia” Fajura reveals that he contracted COVID-19 which explains why he wasn't seen during the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 8. The pro player stated that he has been in isolation since last week but is still staying in the boot camp. It was only this week that he was allowed to participate once more in matches despite still being in an isolated room. Despite Rafflesia’s presence in the third week of the MPL league, ECHO had a disappointing run with an upset given by Nexplay EVOS which resulted in a clean sweep score of 0-2, in favor of Nexplay EVOS.

Rafflesia continues to compete in the MPL PH Season 8 despite fighting against COVID

ECHO’s one and only match for this week of the MPL PH Season 8 did not go in its favor. The team was dominated by Nexplay EVOS, resulting in its third losing streak. The team is currently sitting in the middle of the current ranking with two wins and four losses.

Fans noticed that during the third week of MPL PH Season 8, Rafflesia was participating but was nowhere to be seen in the team cameras. This was later explained by the pro player himself through his official Twitter account.

Rafflesia stated in separate Tweets that he tested positive for COVID and has been in isolation since last week.

To those who are asking why I was not seen in the camera, I tested positive for COVID,” stated Rafflesia. “Since last week, which is why I didn’t play last week.

The pro player was one of the main reasons ECHO had an amazing first week in the MPL PH Season 8. The team won two consecutive matches which boosted them high up in the rankings. However, a sudden change of lineup was made during the second week, replacing Rafflesia with Jay “Jaymeister” Torculas. It did not work in the team’s favor as ECHO dropped two consecutive games during the second week of the MPL league.

Rafflesia came back for the third week but his presence wasn’t enough to bolster the team’s standing. The pro player continued to post tweets saying that he misses doing his normal chores such as smoking electronic cigarettes known as vape.

“With all the things that can happen to me, I did not expect to test positive. I’m a very careful and clean person. I always take care of myself, for my family and people I love,” stated Rafflesia.

ECHO will get another chance at redemption on 17th Sept 2021 at 6:00 PM (PHT) against TNC Pro Team. In the meantime, Rafflesia will have plenty of time to take a rest before the next battle starts.
