The Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 qualifiers have now concluded. Krafton not only invites recognised teams to participate in official events, but also allows unknown and underdog teams to qualify for official events through qualifiers. Thousands of teams competed in the open qualifiers, but only 2048 advanced to Round 1 of the BGIS 2023 main event. Before the start of Round 2, Krafton released a list of teams that were disqualified from the event.
Reasons for teams' disqualification from BGIS 2023
Thousands of teams and players sign up to compete in the qualifiers each year and only a select few of them really have the chance to showcase their abilities. Many teams faced elimination from the event due to hackers and cheaters in their qualifying matches.
Following several community concerns, Krafton India Esports has taken strict action against multiple teams competing in BGIS 2023 ahead of Round 2. Krafton has now released a list of teams that have been disqualified from BGIS 2023. The sections 4.1 and 6.2.4 from the BGIS 2023 rulebook were cited as the reasons for teams' disqualification.
Section 4.1 Player Equipment: Players may participate in tournaments or official competitions only on mobile phones or approved handheld devices. Players may not use peripheral devices of any kind without explicit written approval of tournament officials (including tablets, adapters, controllers, Bluetooth keyboards, and mice). Players may not use an emulator to play on a PC or other device that is not a handheld device.
Section 6.2.4 Ringing: Playing under another player’s account or gamertag, or soliciting or inducing someone else to play under another player’s account or gamerTag is prohibited.

Krafton also banned 32 other teams for violating several rules from its rulebook. The cause for the ban was not stated, however it is most likely due to a major violation of the rules.

A total of 512 teams were expected to compete in BGIS 2023 Round 2. However, now only 357 teams will compete in this round after the disqualification of these 155 teams. It's worth noting that Krafton India Esports earlier disqualified Stalwart Esports for violating BGIS rulebook sections 2.1.5 (Single Team Exclusivity) and 6.2.4 (Ringing) during The Grind stage.
