Global Esports is one of the major esports organizations in India. It has had several rosters in multiple gaming titles including CS:GO, Dota 2, and Overwatch. It currently has four rosters under its name - the men’s Valorant roster, Global Esports Phoenix (female Valorant roster), the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) men’s roster, and Global Esports Phoenix (female BGMI roster).
In a recent live stream Global Esports CEO Rushindra Sinha revealed that the organization has completely shut down their BGMI operations and will start from scratch to build a new roster.
Rushindra Sinha reveals that Global Esports BGMI operations have been shut down
Global Esports had recently announced their male BGMI lineup. Fans were excited to see the lineup perform as it was filled with seasoned as well as young talented players. The organization had also gotten a bunch of talented female athletes to compete under the name of Global Esports Phoenix.
In a recent live stream, Rushindra Sinha revealed that Global Esports has completely shut down their BGMI operations for the time being. He said that the organization will now start from scratch and build a new roster. He also mentions that they should have had complete control over their BGMI operations and not rely on any other person.
Talking about Team Mayavi, Rushindra Sinha said that, “Global Esports has cut all its ties from Team Mayavi. There were accusations of cheating and hacking being made on them. I have seen the players play and they are good players but the accusations made on them were creating a negative PR for Global Esports and I did not want that to happen”.
Rushindra Sinha also talked about the female roster and said, “We had not finalized their contracts and paperwork. We were waiting for BGIS 2023 to end and see their performance in the event”. He also talked about the slot scam accusations on Global Esports Phoenix and said, “I have personally spoken with the owner of Sting Esports and he has said that he gave his slot to the Global Esports Phoenix’s lineup. Also we did not know that the slot didn’t belong to Global Esports Phoenix.”
The release of Global Esports’ male roster was the most surprising one as the roster had finished in 4th place in the recently concluded Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series (BGMS) 2023 Season 2. The team was eliminated from Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 and despite this fans still had hope that the lineup would perform in the future but as it so happens Global Esports seems to be going for an outright restructure.
