History repeats itself as the M4 World Champions, ECHO, dominated the defending champions Blacklist International in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines (MPL PH) Season 11 grand finals. The killer orcas pulled off a convincing 4-0 clean sweep victory over the codebreakers, similar to how they won during last year’s world series event.
Following this, ECHO and Blacklist International will represent the Philippines in the upcoming Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2023. The tournament will kick off on 10th June 2023 and will feature the top teams from participating regions aiming for a shot at the championship title.
ECHO wins first MPL PH championship title
ECHO’s playoffs journey was far from smooth sailing. The squad was dropped down to the lower brackets after a 2-3 loss against RSG Slate PH in the early stages of the tournament.
However, the team rallied and made it all the way into the lower bracket finals securing its revenge against RSG Slate PH, who was defeated by Blacklist International in the upper brackets. ECHO was then able to clutch a grand finals slot after defeating Bren Esports.
ECHO had a spectacular opening during Game 1 of the grand finals match. Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno spearheaded the first round with a Lancelot pick, scoring a triple kill at the 13-minute mark. Blacklist International could not recover from its early-game slump, resulting in a 4-15 score, in favor of the killer orcas.
Thanks to Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya’s clinical executions with the hero Lapu-Lapu, ECHO was able to keep its momentum going and win the second game in under 11 minutes. Tristan "YAWI" Cabrera took center stage in the third game with his signature Chou pick, leading the series to a matchpoint. The final game saw KarlTzy using his signature Lancelot pick to close the series with a 4-0 victory.
ECHO has officially conquerd the M4 World Championship and the MPL PH Season 11. It will be interesting to see if the killer orcas will be able to win the MSC 2023 championship title in June to add one more trophy to its collection.
