Coach Pakbet Explains Why Omega Esports MLBB Released Allidap and OUTPLAYED

Omega Esports previously announced the departure of two of its Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) pro players Romiere "Allidap" Padilla and Jhonville "OUTPLAYED" Villar. The two pro players barely saw any action since they debuted under the team. Through an online press conference, Omega Esports’ head coach Jomie “Pakbet” Abalos explained why the two players were released from the roster. According to him, the players were released to give them a chance to grow as pro players as Moonton now forbids franchise teams to join amateur tournaments. The Omega Esports squad now prepares to compete in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) 2022 and defend its title it had earned back when it was still called Execration.

Allidap and OUTPLAYED to look for more opportunities outside Omega Esports

The official rule book of the Mobile Legends: Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) forbids franchise teams from participating in any third-party MLBB tournaments without approval from the league. This made it more complicated for franchise teams to participate in other tournaments even during the off-season.

This was the reason why Omega Esports decided to let go of Allidap and OUTPLAYED. According to its head coach “there are [teams] who are looking to acquire them. There’s just no amateur tournament that MPL PH [players] who aren’t active can participate in. Back then, it was allowed, so we kept them.”

He added that this decision was made to give the two pro players a chance to grow their career in the MLBB esports scene.

Z4pnu stands by his statement that PH MLBB teams are stronger than Indonesian teams

Omega Esports is now preparing to compete in the upcoming MSC 2022. The team signed its main squad comsposed of Duane “Kelra” Pillas, Renz Errol “Renzio” Cadua, Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog, Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic, and Dean "Raizen" Sumagui with Billy “Z4pnu” Alfonso being the reliable substitute player.

Recently, the team’s sixth-man was hit with backlash from the Indonesian community for stating that PH teams are stronger than Indonesian teams in the MLBB competitive scene. Heading to the MSC 2022, Z4pnu still stands by his statement and is looking to prove it in the upcoming tournament against RRQ Hoshi in the group stage.

“There’s nothing wrong with what I said. There are a lot of amateur teams that are strong here in the Philippines,” he stated.

The team wished everyone good luck in the upcoming tournament and hoped that toxic fans would not resort to reporting their Instagram handles.

The MSC 2022 will be held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia on 11th June. The tournament will feature the top 12 Southeast Asian (SEA) teams competing for the lion’s share of the $300,000 USD prize pool.
