Blacklist International Sweeps ONIC PH and Secures MPL PH Season 10 Playoffs Spot
Blacklist International finally secured its playoffs spot in the 7th week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 10. After last week’s shaky performance, the Codebreakers were able to bounce back with a dominant 2-0 clean sweep victory against ONIC PH. Blacklist International’s first win of the week also allowed it to claim the top spot on the leaderboard with 22 points. Through a post-match press conference, the team’s head coach Kristoffer "BON CHAN" Ricaplaza admitted that winning the MPL PH Season 10 would be a huge statement for Blacklist International with how strong the competing teams have become.
Blacklist International made quick work of ONIC PH through a flawless victory
After falling to the hands of ONIC PH back in Week 3 of the MPL PH Season 10, Blacklist International was back for revenge in Week 7.
The first game of the series was like a game of chess as the Codebreakers were able to distract ONIC PH while Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario silently secured a Lord in the later stages of the game. The pressure brought forth by Johnmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna’s Estes and Salic “Hadji” Imam made it almost impossible for ONIC PH to win team fights due to the absurd amount of sustain. While ONIC PH was able to find a way to turn the tide in its favor, it failed to close the game before Blacklist International respawned and the Codebreakers secured a huge comeback victory.
Blacklist International kept its momentum going in the second game, delivering a swift and dominant win to close the series.
BON CHAN admits the team may struggle in the playoffs
Through a post-match press conference, coach BON CHAN shared that with each team having significant improvements since last season, Blacklist International may have a hard time climbing to the grand finals stage.
“Honestly, we will struggle because all the teams have become strong,” he said. While this may be the case, he believes that it’s a good thing.
“We don’t know what will happen or who will secure the upper bracket and lower bracket but it will be a good challenge for us,” BON CHAN explained.
He added that “When we reach playoffs and still dominate it despite the teams getting stronger, it will be a good statement if we ever secure M4.”
Blacklist International’s regular season matches are far from over as it will face ECHO on 25th September at 7:40 PM (PHT). ONIC PH will face Omega Esports on 24th September at 5:00 PM (PHT).
