The first week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia (MPL ID) Season 11 playoffs saw EVOS Legends take down the underdogs of the regular season, Geek Slate. The grueling match lasted for five rounds with the White Tigers scoring a 3-2 victory, which upset the underdog squad’s team captain Allen "Baloyskie" Baloy. Shortly after Geek Slate made its early exit in the MPL ID Season 11 playoffs stage, the captain took to social media and shared his frustration of losing the opportunity when the squad finally had its chance to compete in the playoffs. Baloyskie also hinted at retiring from the Mobile Legend esports scene for good.

Is this Baloyskie’s last season as a Mobile Legends pro player?

Geek Slate, formerly known as Geek Fam, is one of the teams that has had a string of disappointing tournament runs. The squad mostly finished 7th to 8th place in various tournaments. The ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2022 and Top Clans 2022 Winter Invitational were its most notable achievements, with 2nd place finishes in both events.

The recent resurgence of Geek Slate hyped up the fans and many were looking forward to the team's playoff journey in the MPL ID Season 11. However, the team’s run was cut short after EVOS Legends eliminated it from the competition on the first day of the playoffs stage.

Through a Twitter post on 6th April, Geek Slate’s seasoned veteran and Filipino import, Baloyskie shared his frustrations after the team bowed out from the tournament.

“Too bad, we came short. This is the third time we got reverse sweep wkwk,” wrote Baloyskie.

Following the Tweet, he made another post, hinting that he may be retiring as a pro player soon.

“Last season as a player?” Baloyskie posted.

Fans flocked to his posts, encouraging him to stay positive and go for another run in the next season. Some fans also began speculating that Baloyskie may be retiring as a pro player but will remain in the Mobile Legends esports scene as a coach.

Thanks to Baloyskie and another Filipino import, Jaymark "Janaaqt" Lazaro, Geek Slate's performance in the MPL ID Season 11 was phenomenal compared to its previous tournament runs. Without a doubt, the Filipino imports had a significant impact on the team's performance and may continue to improve if Baloyskie choses to stay as a pro player.
