Orange Rock esports’s journey at ESL India Premiership 2020 Summer Season

Orange Rock esports which is already doing well at the international stage with a stellar performance at the ongoing PMWL, now solidifies its place as the team to beat at the national stage after winning ESL India Premiership 2020. They had an excellent Day 1 with 2 Chicken Dinners and a whopping 46 kills that put them far ahead of the rest. However, Day 2  saw a slump in their performance. While they did get a memorable Chicken Dinner with 10 kills in Round 8, their other positions were a 10th place in Round 6, 15th in Round 7 and 13th in Round 9.

Towards the final match, it became clear that it would be either Orange Rock esports or Fnatic that would take the crown of ESL India Premiership Summer Season. The match that many would expect to be hotly contested between these two instead ended up seeing a showdown between OG, VSG Crawlers, and SWAT at the end. Orange Rock esports kept a low profile throughout the match while Fnatic went all guns blazing and secured 10 kills before eventually going down at the 11th position.

The team is certainly on a roll right now with numerous achievements to their name. Their performance at the national stage has been consistently good, as they came first in PUBG MOBILE Pro League - Spring Split 2020: South Asia League and also came 2nd in NimoTV PUBG MOBILE League. There have been minor slumps like the disappointing 11th finish in the PUBG MOBILE India Series 2020. However, their victory today in ESL India Premiership 2020 Summer Season certainly cements them up there with TSM Entity as the two champions of Indian PUBG MOBILE today.

Fnatic’s Performance at ESL India Premiership 2020 Summer Season

Fnatic’s Owais, Franky, Ash, and Paritosh certainly had a lot to prove given how the team has had a bit of the slump these past few tournaments. While this roster doesn’t command the same firepower or fans, they certainly did perform above expectations. Many would’ve expected SynerGE or MegaStars to outperform the boys in black and orange, but this squad has certainly been able to cause some upsets and come 2nd, taking home INR 3,00,000 from the ESL India Premiership 2020

Their Day 1 of ESL India Premiership 2020 started rough with an 11th place finish and 2 kills but they turned heads with a Chicken Dinners and 7 kills in the next match itself. While they continued the day ending with a lacklustre performance, Day 2 began with back-to-back Chicken Dinners. They put up a good fight in the last match when the points difference put them neck-to-neck against Orange Rock esports, but unfortunately, they couldn’t seal the deal. Nevertheless, it’ll be exciting to see how the organisation shapes up for future performances.

Talking about the tournament, Akshat Rathee, Co-Founder and MD, NODWIN Gaming said, “Our flagship tournament has been received exceptionally well this year both by our players and the audience. The player registrations increased by 1866% percent and our viewership grew three times from last year! We received over 55,000 registrations that by itself, exceeds all expectations. What these amazing numbers tell us is that esports is set to create history in India — both in terms of its growth and the interest it is rapidly garnering among India’s youth. Professionally competitive esports events like the ESL premiership are setting the bar very high and propelling the industry to great heights.”
