The fifth week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 9 will kick off on 18th March. The previous week was filled with a ton of interesting moments as well as disappointments and the season has now reached the halfway mark. While ECHO experienced its first loss last week, it still remained at the top of the MPL PH Season 9 leaderboards. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Nexplay EVOS was not able to show up for its scheduled match and lost by default. The bottom teams, Blacklist International, Omega Esports, and Bren Esports have shown a lot of improvements over the past weeks and are looking to bounce back in the fifth week of the MPL PH Season 9.
What to Expect in the MPL PH Season 9 Week 5
Despite breaking its winning streak, ECHO continued its immaculate run in the regular season. However, fans were left disappointed as the highly anticipated match of the week was canceled due to Nexplay EVOS missing out on its final match of the fourth week, giving ECHO a 2-0 win by default. With a problematic run last week, Nexplay EVOS is looking to bounce back in the fifth week of the MPL PH Season 9.
TNC Pro Team remained in second place with a dominant performance last week. However, one noteworthy aspect that can be observed is that in the first half of their regular season TNC Pro Team struggled in long-term matches. The team somehow loses its momentum if it can't finish the series within two games, as seen during its match against ECHO in Week 2, ONIC PH in Week 3, and Nexplay EVOS in Week 4. While the team is putting forth a stellar performance in the tournament, this momentum issue may be a problem for the team in the long run.
RSG PH continued to prove it is worthy of the title “Kingslayers” after taking down last season’s runner-up team, ONIC PH in the fourth week of the MPL PH Season 9. The team’s substitute player Dexter "Exort" Martinez proved last week how he is more than capable despite having been drafted at the last minute by RSG PH.
The contention for the title of “The Filipino Sniper” continues as Omega Esports’ Grant “Kelra” Duane Pillas achieved the very first Savage killstreak in the MPL PH Season 9 using Beatrix. With Blacklist International’s Kiel "OHEB" Calvin Soriano being the current titleholder, it will be interesting to see how this rivalry progresses between the two Beatrix specialists.
Bren Esports being at the bottom of the Week 4 leaderboards may prove problematic for the squad. The team is at risk of elimination if it fails to secure win streaks in the upcoming matches. However, considering how much the team has improved since last season, Bren Esports may have to give its all in order to secure a playoffs spot.
