Omega Esports continues its impressive run in the fourth week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines (PH) Season 9 with a victory against the defending champions, Blacklist International. The defending champions tried to pull off an Estes combo with a mix of an assassin hero in the third deciding game. However, it was not enough to take down Omega Esports who managed to secure a Savage kill streak to win the series. In the post-match interview, Omega Esports’ gold laner, Grant “Kelra” Duane Pillas declared himself to be the best Beatrix player in the Philippines.

Omega Esports takes down the defending champions

Blacklist International started strong with a flawless victory over Omega Esports in the opening game. With Dexstar "Dex Star" Louise Cruz Alaba’s Diggie and Edward "EDWARD" Jay Dapadap’s Hylos, Blacklist International’s defenses were impenetrable, allowing Kiel "OHEB" Calvin Soriano’s Beatrix to safely snipe Omega Esports members from a distance.

Blacklist International stood dominant in the first game.

After a disappointing game 1, Omega Esports pulled off a lineup that allowed it to showcase its iconic late-game dominance. Blacklist International could barely penetrate the frontline of Omega Esports, allowing Kelra to safely dominate skirmishes. With a dominant late-game performance, Omega Esports finished victorious in Game 2 to open up a third and deciding match for the series.

Blacklist International went for the classic Estes team composition with a mix featuring Kent “KEVIER” Xavier Lopez’s assassin specialty with Lancelot. However, this team composition did not go so well against Omega Esports’ own classic team composition with Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilog’s signature hero, Khufra keeping the team from falling apart during team fights. With a solid wipeout and a Savage kill streak from Kelra at the 15-minute mark, Omega Esports closed the series with a 2-1 victory against its rivals.

Kelra secured the first Savage of the MPL PH Season 9.

Kelra believes he is better at using Beatrix than OHEB

Through a post-match interview, Omega Esports’ star gold laner discussed who between him and OHEB could maximize Beatrix’s potential in matches.

“Of course, it’s me. I’m the best when using Beatrix out of all, the whole Philippines,” the jungler said.

He added that OHEB got the title of “The Filipino Sniper” simply because Kelra was not able to show off during the world series tournament.

“I wasn’t able to join the M3 (World Championship) that’s why he got the title of ‘The Filipino Sniper’,” the Omega Esports jungler said.

With a solid performance against the defending champions, Omega Esports aims to keep its momentum going as it will be facing TNC Pro Team on the fifth week of the MPL PH Season 9.
