The Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction: Tales of Tethered Bird is the most recent iteration of the game mode for the version 2.0 update. It challenges players to clear as many waves as possible in a set amount of rounds. The Pure Fiction Fiction Tales of Tethered Bird game mode allows players to use one of the three powerful buff effects Libel, Rumor, and Defamation. These buffs apply various DoT effects on enemies that players can capitalize on to clear waves faster.

Libel

Compared to all the Buff Effects available in Pure Fiction: Tales of Tethered Bird, the Libel is suggested in most lineups. However, it requires players to run a DoT team to maximize its potential.

When the Libel Buff Effect is equipped, enemies adjacent to the target take DoT damage of the same type inflicted equal to 60% of the original damage dealt. This is very powerful when using characters such as Kafka, or Sampo, as these characters can apply DoT effects on multiple enemies, therefore increasing the overall damage output exponentially.

Rumor

When you lack characters that can apply DoT effects, the Rumor Buff Effect can be very useful. 

When equipped, it inflicts Wind Shear on enemy targets. Considering how the focus of this Pure Fiction version is applying as many DoT effects as possible, this is a must-have for team compositions who cannot consistently apply any DoT debuffs on enemies.

However, if you have enough characters who can easily apply DoT effects on enemies, the Rumor Buff Effect can be underwhleming compared to Libel and Defamation.

Defamation

The Defamation Buff Effect is quite powerful in the Pure Fiction: Tales of Tethered Bird game mode. 

When equipped, it heals an ally with the lowest HP and advances their turn every time an enemy takes DoT damage. Keep in mind that you will need to have a character that can deal DoT damage in order to make use of the effects of the Buff Effect. 

This is quite powerful if you have Kafka as she can trigger multiple DoT effects at once, providing healing and a decent amount of speed boost that can be useful to have multiple turns in one round.

Overall, the Defamation Buff Effect is the strongest out of the three choices. However, it requires players to consistently activate a DoT effect to maximize its potential, something only Kafka can pull off, so far.

It is important to consider your team composition when choosing a Buff Effect in the Honkai Star Rail Pure Fiction: Tales of Tethered Bird as each of them has their pros and cons.
