Honkai Star Rail Hook Build Guide: Best Light Cones, Relics and Traces

Hook is one of the most underrated characters in Honkai Star Rail. With players slowly approaching the endgame, the perception of various characters has changed within the community. Hook was a very mediocre unit in the Closed Beta Tests (CBTs) but that has changed with Hoyoverse buffing her at release and some feel that she might be a bit too good for a 4-star unit right now. Here is our recommended Hook build for Honkai Star Rail with relic, light cone and trace upgrade recommendations.

Honkai Star Rail Hook Build: Best Light Cone 

Hook has access to plenty of great light cones. Among 4-star options, A Secret Vow gives Hook an unconditional 20% damage increase even at Superimposition 1 and it goes up to 40% at Superimposition 5. If you go up against enemies that have a higher HP percentage than Hook, the damage increase perk is doubled. If you do not have access to it, Woof! Walk Time is also a great option and you can farm it in the Forgotten Hall.

A Secret Vow

Increases DMG dealt by the wearer by 20%. The wearer also deals an extra 20% DMG to enemies with a higher HP percentage than the wearer.

Woof! Walk Time

Increases the wearer's ATK by 10%, and increases their DMG to enemies afflicted with Burn or Bleed by 20%. This also applies to DoT.

Firesmith of Lava-Forging

• 2-Piece Bonus: Increases Fire DMG by 10%.

• 4-Piece Bonus: Increases the wearer's Skill DMG by 12%. After unleashing Ultimate, increases the wearer's Fire DMG by 12% for the next attack.

Musketeer of Wild Wheat

• 2-Piece Bonus: ATK increases by 10%.

• 4-Piece Bonus: The wearer's SPD increases by 6% and Basic ATK DMG increases by 10%.

Honkai Star Rail Hook Build: Best Traces to Unlock

Farming Trace materials can be very difficult and you should only focus on traces that benefit Hook. If Hook is your primary damage dealer, then you should build her Skill, Ultimate, Technique and Basic Attack. For the unlockable Traces, Trace 1 and 3 are must have and you can avoid building Trace 2 until you finish building other characters.

Trace 1: When "Ha! Oil to the Flames!" is triggered, restores HP equal to 5% of Max HP.

Trace 2: RES to Crowd Control debuffs increases by 35%

Trace 3: When using her Ultimate, Hook has her action Advanced Forward by 20% and Hook additionally regenerates 5 Energy.
